Title: Piantoutong Wan Post by W_Perry on May 13th, 2003, 12:19am Just picked up this stuff at a Chinese druggist ,, Used for vascular Headaches Contains: Rhizoma Ligustici - 36 % Radix Angelicae Dahuricae -36 % Radix Aconiti -28 % It was $ 5.50 Canadian for 36 pills so its worth a try I guess, Im not sure whats really in it or if it will help at all but I guess if I dont try I will never know. Im tapering off prednizone , attacks are back , pretty grumpy about life as can be expected . I cant take any time off work at all as there is no one to fill in if Im away I find that I get the attacks more often when I try to sleep and relax so if I keep moving and busy I get them less often , but I sure am getting tired. Once they are gone Im taking a saturday to stay in bed all day .... THis site has really helped me in the past 6 weeks to see that others have suffered the same or worse pain and somehow manage to carry on and keep smiling. It has given me the courage and determination to carry on, For that I thank you all. Wayne |

Title: Re: Piantoutong Wan Post by Tom on May 13th, 2003, 6:10pm Be careful with Radix Aconiti = Monkshood's Root ! Aconite = monkshood = the strongest herbal poison the manhood knows ! ...Aconite,....raises an arterial and nervous storm, and though in fatal cases its fury may be great enough to induce chaos, that is, death, yet it does not localize itself in organic changes." --------------- MONKSHOOD - WOLF'S BANE. Do not grow Aconitum near horseradish, the roots are poisonous and might be used by mistake Physiological Action. The taste of Aconite is bitter, acrid, and pungent. Soon after the ingestion of even a small quantity, a sensation of numbness and a persistent tingling are felt in the tongue and lips. Full medicinal doses cause a sense of constriction in the fauces, irritation of the gastro-intestinal mucous membrane, with increased secretion; sometimes nausea and vomiting, and severe pains in the joints and muscles; always more or less salivation, diaphoresis and diuresis, reduced respiratory power, decreased cardiac rate and force, lowered arterial tension and. temperature. A Toxic Dose produces great muscular weakness, dimness of sight, dilated (sometimes contracted) pupils, shallow, irregular and labored respiration, a slow and weak pulse, coldness of the surface, clammy sweat, great anxiety, numbness and tingling in the extremities ; lowering of the body temperature (20 to 30), abolishment of sensation, reflexes and motility ; and finally death from paralysis of the heart and respiration, with or without convulsions, consciousness being preserved until near the end, when CO2 narcosis sets in. |
