Title: Zyprexa for ch Post by jimt on May 8th, 2003, 1:53pm I have been suffering from ch for about a year now. At first I was only having one a month from Feb. till July then in July I started have 3 to 4 a week. Seen all the doctors and such, a neurologist told me that since winter was comming and the weather would be cold they should stop coming as frequently, he was wrong. I found that if I drink 4 to 5 beers a night I don't have any headaches but when I stop drinking they start again. I now have a new doctor and he just prescribed Zyprexa which is a anti-phsycotic. I looked it up on yahoo-health and I'm not to pleased with the side-affects they have listed. I've only been on it two days now and am not to happy about being on medication to begin with. If anyone has tried this or has any information about this medication I would appreciate the help. thanks. |

Those numbers do not sound like CH,and I hope for your sake that I'm right. Take the cluster quiz(see button on the left)and let us know how it turns out. If it is CH then WELCOME aboard,if not tell us more about you pain, onset, location, intensity and so on,and we may be able to point you in the right direction. Wishing you pain free times either way, Billy |

Title: Re: Zyprexa for ch Post by jimt on May 9th, 2003, 7:36am Here's the numbers: since July of last year I get 2 to 4 headaches a week, the pain comes on suddenly behind my left eye and starts to run down my sinus behind my nostral all on the left side, it gets so intense that I either have to roll around on the floor or pace. I usually describe it as a very intense ice cream headache that last from 10 minutes to an hour, or someone drilling into my eye with a dull drill bit and running an auger down my sinus cavity. My nose and eye water. The headache goes away as quick as it starts within seconds. Does it sound like ch to you? |

Title: Re: Zyprexa for ch Post by Bob_Johnson on May 9th, 2003, 8:21am I've used it with great success as a replacement for ergomar. The suggested dose, in the initial medical reports on this use, was 5mg to start, increasing to 10mg if 5 didn't work. I got rapid and predictable results in 20-minutes. Critical to understand that all the side effects, etc. you read about are not PREDICTIONS but reports of patient experience which appeared during clinical trials. The actual experience of the side effect can be as little as 1-2%. Federal regs require this material be developed by the drug company--but it needs to be interpreted with care. Use it if it works; report side effects to your doc and let him guide you. |

Title: Re: Zyprexa for ch Post by NewHeadPLZ on May 9th, 2003, 2:38pm When I first started having these damn things, they weren't very often (5-6 a year). Today, 15 yrs later I may be cronic. Up two three a day that even 02 won't help. Beer was without a doubt a trigger, still is!!! >:( Art |
