Title: MRI Post by scrumpies on May 7th, 2003, 11:17am I had my first MRI done last week. My dr. called me to come in today to discuss the results. Is this normal? I mean if nothing showed up why just tell me over the phone. Or am I making more out of this? Guess I'd like to know if going in to see the doc for the results is normal procedure. Lisa |

Title: Re: MRI Post by Ted on May 7th, 2003, 11:32am Yeah, Lisa. That's pretty normal. They rarely, if ever, discuss results over the phone even when everything comes back good. My guess is that's probably to avoid having people know it's bad results when they don't tell you over the phone. Funny how that strategy doesn't work since probably all of us worried like you are because they made us go in to be told everything's normal. My other guess why they do that? Boat payments. |

Title: Re: MRI Post by Mack on May 7th, 2003, 4:41pm Another reason they may do that is your MRI may be normal and whatever meds your taking may not be working, so they want to try other med(s) or talk about other tests (EEG, blood tests, whatever,). Try not to worry. (easier said) Good luck Mack |

Title: Re: MRI Post by eyes_afire on May 7th, 2003, 5:58pm Yeah, I'd say that's normal procedure. In addition to all of the above, docs are also worried about liability. They can get in legal trouble if they give out someone's medical info... and they don't know if that person on the other end of the line is really you so they need to give your results in person. |
