Title: Re: call glaxo Post by cbolony on May 5th, 2003, 12:56pm Boots i email them a few times means nothing to them. They will never make the stat doses 3mgs.For the stat dose you have to use the imitrex tip.But you can also get imitrex in 6mg vials and fill the needles with as much imitrex as you want 2-3-4 mgs.Boots i use both stat doses and vails. |

Title: Re: call glaxo Post by Laurie on May 11th, 2003, 6:20am Unfortunately for your idea, marketted dose size is determined, not by popular demand, but by a long, expensive, highly regulated process of multiple clinical drug trials that determines what dose(s) are a) most effective for most people and b) safest/cause the fewest side effects. In the case of Imitrex, the clinical population was migraine patients. Even if their marketting folks wanted to, GSK really can't just change their dosages at a whim for off-label use. Laurie |

Title: Re: call glaxo Post by Boots on May 11th, 2003, 7:14pm seen the q-tip idea, i don't think i could do that even at the start of a ch.doing a regular dose is difficult enough. when i talked to gsk the person at least seeamed interested to take info from me but didn't sound like they heard of clusters.beating my head against a door jam didn't sound like a good remedy for a headache to her........sometimes a smaller dose might work if not i could do more,it would be nice to have that option.if more ppl tell them what we use in the real world they might listen |

Title: Re: call glaxo Post by eyes_afire on May 11th, 2003, 9:12pm If they ever do decide to make smaller injection dose, they will likely charge you the same $$ as for the larger dose, like they do with the tablets: 9 tablets 25 mg = $120 9 tablets 50 mg = $120 Then they change the shape of the 50 mg tablets, making it much harder to break in half >:( And they're trying to renew thier patent. Bastards. |

Title: Re: call glaxo Post by NewHeadPLZ on May 13th, 2003, 1:14pm I've e-mailed Glaxo and according to them, the 2mg was studied, but the 6mg dose was the most effective. They agree 2mg can work, but for most "migranes" the 6mg is the recommended dose. Once again, these drugs are marketed for those that suffer "migranes" and not C/H. Art |
