ok, now i know alot of people get their attacks in the middle of the night; god knows i have done the 3 am dance myself on more than one occasion. however, has anyone ever noticed if you are woken suddenly (ex: your wife shakes the hell out of you at 3 am telling you she heard a noise and to go investigate) do you get an attack? it happens to me every time and i dont understand why.
if this has been discussed on a previous post, im sorry. but could i please get some feed back? i really hate digging through archives like some people insist you do. thanks! ----N

That's never happened to me.

I have ~~woken~~ ~~wakened~~ ~~woke up~~ awakened while dreaming I was having a headache and I was having HEADACHE!

Maybe you and the wife need separate bedrooms ;D

I can't remeber this actually happening to me. I 've woken because of a headache but never gotten one due to a sudden wake up. My feedback prbably won't help too much but I hope it does :)

Tell your wife to stop that $#!+. Buy her a nice shotgun, teach her how to use it, and ask for 6-8 hours of peace each day (night) in return.

Just a theory...

If I am up all night, the headaches hit at almost the same time on the hour. My worst attack is at 3:04 am. I'm not kidding. I wonder if you already had the headache, and it took a minute to realize due to the fear factor?

I discovered Ambien a couple years ago, and I can often sleep through the smaller two that occur at night, sometimes even the 3 am call, although I have pain in my dreams as well (no matter who I am, what I am doing, I still am aware of the pain).

I have noticed if something wakes me up suddenly (other than pain, such as dogs barking) when they normally hit, it's already there, and bad enough that going back to sleep is not possible. If I can stay asleep, it's better.

Taking into account you are a chronic, and have been dealing with a constant pain level for the past three years, I think you are used to a certain amount of background pain all the time, and may not have been aware you were sleeping through a smaller KIP scale. After three years, your body has got to have sleep. You would be amazed what you learn to sleep through when you are already sleep deprived.

ok maybe i need to clarify....
my wife doesnt wake me up to investigate a strange noise, it was just an example. it could be anything, my kid wakes up in the middle of the night and i have to get up to deal with that, the phone rings, ect.... my point is waking up not "on your own". my chs wake me up in the middle of the night sometimes but thankfully, im not a regular in that aspect. im talking about bieng sound asleep and BAM! you gotta get up for some reason before your body was ready. 5 min later your on your o2.

10-4, good buddy. I was just trying to be funny. I haven't had your experience - it's the headaches themselves that wake me from a sound sleep approximately 90 minutes after I go to sleep.

You can still buy you wife a nice Remington or Browning pump action shotgun. She'll thank you for it later. ;D

Headaches wake me out of sleep like everyone else. Dream about it, and you've got one and hitting the O2. And yes, I have gotten a headache from being awakened, not immediately, usually a few minutes after, and only if I'm still VERY tired.

sounds like exctally what im talking about. anyone understand WHY that is? too much blood rushing to the brain or something along those lines?

Does anyone know how blood vessels react to the introduction of adrenaline to the blood stream and the subsequent processing, thereof? I will look it up when I have the time.

This may sound strange, but I think that just before a cycle starts, I sleep extremely soundly. So much so, that when the alarm goes off, I'm still dead asleep. I've noticed this the last couple of cycles. (I'm a periodic).

When I go to sleep, i could set an alarm clock to my chs...i wake up at almost the exact time every nite after I go to sleep with one...the damn beast has a real sense of humor when he deals with me...he is always on time...smiles,nancyc
