That's right... I have been drinking "Ruby Red" grapefruit juice almost every morning while taking verapamil. I didn't read the warning label until today.

BTW, if drinking grapefruit juice drastically increases the level of verapamil in my bloodstream... why isn't is doing sh*t for my CH attacks?

Believe that problems only occur with the processed grapefruit juice made from concentrate that comes in cartons with a long sell by date.

The stuff made from fresh pressed grapefruit is OK. At least that's my understanding.

At least Frank deserves a good thump on the head for choosing a subject line worthy of the general board ::)

Grapefruit, in any form, not just processed juice, contain an enzyme that interferes with the cytochrome p450 system that is used to break down many drugs, including Verapamil.

For what it's worth.....

I read Ueli's very accurate post back when he originally posted it, and others before that also - after I had been mixing the two for a long time.... :)

I'm sure that the effect (or lack of) is dependant on many factors, but I cannot see any effect on me at 360-540 mg.
