Title: Apo-carbamazepine (sp?)
Post by fungo on Apr 30th, 2003, 11:07am
A friend of a friend has reported great results with "apo-carbamazepine." (Sorry if I've got the name not exactly right, but this is third-hand info.)

I've never heard of this drug and can't find any reference to it on this site. Is it more commonly referred to by another name? Can anyone confirm any success (and/or side effects) with it?

Thanks!

Apo-carbamazepine......might help, might not

Carbamazepine aka Carbatrol, Epitol, Tegretol, Tegretol XR
Carbamazepine is a drug that affects the nerves and brain. It works by decreasing impulses in nerves that cause seizures and pain.

If you suffer from Trigeminal Neuralgia then Carbamazepine is the drug of first choice.

If you suffer from cluster headaches you only get the Zombie effect from Carbamazepine. But maybe a  Zombie won't feel any cluster pain.

BTW, the search engine of this site returns 54 hits on "carbamazepin OR tegretol".   ::)

Thanks for the info. My search of this site didn't turn up any hits... maybe because of spelling.

The person who passed this info on to me definitely suffers from cluster headaches, tried many other treatments, and eventually got total relief using apo-carbamazepine. Didn't mention any "zombie effect." Quite the contrary, seemed very happy with the effect.

Obviously, everyone has a different response to these things...

I had trigeminal neuralgia and the tegritol worked great for me then. Ive not had TN for many years now.       Med free now also. I still got CH though. CH and TN at the same time really sucked bad!!!

andy...........
Try the SEARCH button at the top of the page, right under the words clusterheadaches.com in that sloppy script-like writing. It works for "old" messages.
The Search button under the words Message Board works for the "new" messages.
