Title: Salvia
Post by HypnoticFreddy on Feb 15th, 2003, 2:00pm
Has anyone here ever tried Salvia Divinorum? If so, is it not the most potent hallucinogenic you have ever done? The effects are only brief (less than 10 min), but Jeepers! It is nuts. It is a legal herb (except in Australia), actually it is one of 1000 known sages. It is used heavily by the Mazatec Indians in Mexico.

I wonder if it may precipitate or help CHs.

Any insight?

No, never took this, but did a quick check at Erowid:

And you're right, this is potent stuff - the most potent naturally-occuring hallucinogen known, doses are in the microgram range, comparable to LSD.

But it's in a different chemical family -- it's a "diterpene" or something like that, as opposed to psilocybin, LSD, mescalene, ect., which are alkaloids. And recent research shows it's not a serotonin agonist, it works on another set of receptors and not the 5-HT.

Anything's possible, but this doesn't look like a good candidate for cluster treatment. How did it work for you?

And it is touchy stuff. According to Erowid, taking a little too much can lead to frighteningly intense experiences. Check out the warning page:
