Title: New on here, thought i'd share what works for me. Post by Chuffy on Nov 2nd, 2002, 7:07pm I have been a sufferer for about 25 years now and 10 of those were undiagnosed as I suppose it was for most people on here. I just thought I'd let you know what works for me, i'm episodic, usually one cluster a year about this time lasting a max. of 8 weeks (lucky sod). I am prescribed Cafergot and Tylex(co-codomol). As I like to avoid using the Cafergot unless I really have to I have found taking two Tylex every four hours or so seems to suppress the system that triggers the headaches, and as long as I avoid alcohol can go for days without a headache actually coming on properly. When one does start to take a grip then its the Cafergot and an ice pack (bag of peas!!) applied to the neck and face does help speed up recovery. The other thing I find helpful during a cluster is to drink as much water as possible. Using these methods has meant I haven't had a full blown 'bang the head' one during this cluster. Looking at some peoples posts though I seem to get off lightly anyway, apart from the ten undiagnosed years, ah...great days. |
