This is my first time on this web-site but I am happy it is here. I have suffered from CH since 7 years and have been (I think) every medicine they have out there. This last episode started August 14th. and I'm still going with no relief. They are mainly at night, which is typical. My old nero had me on Depakote, Lithum, Topmax and Maxalt for the pain. None of these seemed to work. I had to switch to a new nero because of insurance (go firgure) and he has me on Nerontin (2 times at night 1 in the morning) has anyone had any success with this medicine? Thanks for any information you can supply.

Hi Mari, welcome.

You can get a lot of info about neurontin in the archives I think. I think a few people are experiencing success with it.

Are you using oxygen as well? It's the most popular abortive here. That and Imitrex.

Hi My husband Dave started with Neurontin his last cycle and had the shortest cycle in 20(ish) years of having CH. It is a great preventative the doctor will start small and maybe increase if needed. Good Luck Ree

Hi Mari,

A couple of years ago I found the combination of Verapamil and Neurontin really helped me out. Sometimes a combination of meds works better than the individual meds on their own. Work with your doctor to find the right combination for you.

As Ree said, your Doc may want to increase the dosage if needed. I've been as high as 3600 mg per day (Neurontin) without any serious side effects, but I'm probably a bit larger than you!

Thank you for all of information. It helps me feel better when I talk with someone that has tried a medicine that is new to me and it has worked for them. This is a wonderful site!!
