Title: Long Sufferer New Diagnosis-Question
Post by David_D. on Sep 28th, 2002, 2:42pm
Really glad to find this site. This is my first post. 40 yrs old, 22 Year recovering alcoholic/3 years sober. Currrently on Clonazapam 6mg (Severe Anxiety Attacks)and Celexa 80mg dly. Recently diagnoised with cluster migraines as well as fibromialgia. Was prescribed Topomax 25mg, 1 first week, 2 second week, 3 third week and continue from there. Any opinions... in severe pain and was told it will take at least three to six weeks for this stuff to take effect. Going through divorce, unemployable because of pain and now broke. Isn't life just wonderful...............? Any suggestions?

David - sorry you're in pain, but you found the right site for answers. Click on the buttons on the left of your screen for medical info and visit the OUCH site for even more. and read, read, read. Topomax seems to work for some and seems to has severe adverse effects for others. Click on the "search" button (upper right) and type in *topomax and you'll find lots of posts here about it.
I use Verapamil for a preventative and Imitrex and Oxygen for abortives with very good success.
Good luck finding the right combo of meds that work for you

Dave _ I'm sure that once you get the CHs under control, the rest of your problems will get taken care of. First things first and then you can work on the rest of it. There is hope and I'm sure that under the care of a good doc, you can get this damn horrid condition handled.
I printed out a good chunk of this and took it to my doc, without challenging him, I simply asked him to look it over. He became very willing to work with me and simply said - what do you need?
This may work for you
again - welcome to the board and good luck
