Title: Did Meds Screw up Your Schedule?
Post by renrob on Sep 8th, 2002, 2:06pm
My CHs were like clockwork for 6 years.  Then I went and got some meds and all bets have been off since then.  Is there such a thing as coincidence?  My doc at the time thought it was just coincidence that my pattern went koo-koo, but I'm not so sure.  Anyone else have a similar story?

Yes.  In the beginning, I took NO meds.  Cycles ran the course like clockwork.  When I got older I decided to go to the doctor and get help.  that's when I began the journey with the medication trip.  That is also when my cycles have been the most horrific.

i've been doing the trial an error thing to find something that will work. so far i've tried 7- or 8 combos (i.e. lithium, verapamil, depakote, dhe, topomax, diltiazem) and everytime i try somethign new the schedule and frequency and level of attacks changes. i think so far verapamil has been the best giving me 1-2 attacks a day and only really the first one in the morning being bad. but i didn't get them at night then so i could at least sleep. when i went to depakote i would get 3-4 at night and then a couple bad ones in the day. so it was all over the place. that's what's making this so frustrating is that there isn't a real consistency to test the drugs and see what's working. it's like not having a control group in a study. oh well, hopefully one day something will just work and they will go away.
