Title: New Drug Trial
Post by SteveY on Jul 3rd, 2002, 3:35am
There is a new international drug trial begining on a medication called Civamide.

Lots of trials in the US and UK.

It says for eposodic CH, would it work for chronics?

Anyone know anything about it?

Steve

Svenn started a thread about that 2 weeks ago:

The treatment involves some hot peppers up the nose and is said to by a "modestly effective" preventive for CH.  ::)

OUCH and CH.com were contacted by Winston Labs (the people doing the trial) about posting it on the sites.  We tried to hit them up for some $$$ to do it.  Guess they didn't like that and haven't gotten back to us.

It is a substance made from hot peppers.

Hi Steve,

that's old hat, meanwhile, Civamide = brand name = zucapsaicin = a variety of the good old and well discussed capsaicin...

Look at : http://archneur.ama-assn.org/issues/current/abs/noc10084.html

and

www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct/gui/show/NCT00033839?order=1&JServSessionIdzone_ct=xq1dymecd1

My humble opinion: Certain people try to make money with a dubious CH therapy...
