Title: Oxygen
Post by barbee on Jun 22nd, 2002, 4:26pm

I'm excited!  Monday my Neuro will give me a prescription for oxygen!  Maybe now I won't have to take all those triptans, and feel so goofy and foggy every morning.  Anything special I should know about oxygen?

8-12 liters per minute flow rate.
non-rebreather mask.
use it at the first sign of an attack.
cut the strap off the mask so you don't fall asleep with it on.
don't smoke while using it (as Kip says, Intersting fire!)

Hi barbee,

My next appointment is on the 2nd of July (had to check my calandar) Oh Boy! I will ask him for the same thing!
Something that may stop the beast in its tracks... I am excited for you.

I must say that this is the first time that I am looking forward to seeing my neuro.... LOL

This board has given me alot of insight and the support here is great.

I guess that the only question that I would have is after you get the script.... where do you get the oxygen from?  ???

Stay safe and have a PFD

Dan

Medical supply outfits.  My insurance told me which one to contact.

Your insurance list of providers or pharmacies should have a listing for 'medical supply stores' or 'durable medical equipment'.  That would be who you have to contact for your O2.  If you're not going through an insurance company, they're probably listed under 'medical supply' in the yellow pages.  Good luck!

Good Luck on the oxygen!   I pray that it works for ya!

My Doc is contemplating it.... I'm not so sure...

However, if threw a little nitrous in the mix I'm all for it!! ;)

How has the oxygen been working???  My neuro said yes to oxyen for me on Wed.  I just got 8 tanks from an old fat Buddy Holly look-a-like.  Does it really work in 10 to 15 minutes?    I almost want the beast to come, kind of daring him.  15 minutes of the beast sounds a lot better than 3 hours.  Hope it works...
