Title: Update on "Charlies method" Post by Linda_Howell on Jun 20th, 2002, 3:21pm After being on almost everything for my chronic H.A.'s I decided to try out Charlies method. I printed it out, and while in a PF state, I practiced. Once I got the hang of it, I could actually get my hands to warm, but when I was being "hit" I panic and all my work went out the window as I run to my 02 bottle. The other night in chat, I got hit and was about to sign off. Charlie walked me through it and lo and behold, I was able to do it for a while with the pain lessening. Instead of experiencing a full-blown 10, I was able to keep it down to a manageable 6 or so. Now I realize that I will not always be able to do this, but it sure does work, and those who want to try med-free measures, I'd say to give this a try. Charlie posts his method almost religiously, and is very kind to do so. Thank you again "sweet ol Charlie" Linda |

Title: Re: Update on "Charlies method" Post by rick on Jun 21st, 2002, 1:27am Linda, I had some success with this technique as well, but I do admit it was tough to stay focused. I believe continued practice of this technique would bring increased success as an indivdual became better at it over time. Peace, -Rick |

Title: Re: Update on "Charlies method" Post by Liz on Jul 9th, 2002, 8:01pm :P I really like Charlies method but like othersI have difficulty staying focused so I decided to try a more concrete approach that has actually worked for me the last several CH's. I get in the bathntub with water as hot as I can stand. From the waist down I'm emerged inthis hot water, keeping my upper body out of the water. I have the luxury of leaving the bathroom door open so no trapped heat or steam, I take a HUGE glass of ice water with me and drink it as I do my usual rock and zone out technique. Diverting the blood volume to the lower arteries and internally cooling the upper torso with the ice water has shortened my CH time to 15 to 20 minutes. Beats 45 to 60 minutes of hell. |

Title: Re: Update on "Charlies method" Post by Charlie on Jul 10th, 2002, 8:02am Geeze.... I haven't read this stuff in a long time. Still, it's nice to know that some of you are getting this. Someday, someone will really get it here. Some from the guestbook have had great success but so far, not here.... >:( My guess is that cooling makes sense and may have a similar effect. Makes sense to me anyway. Good work anyway :D Charlie |
