Title: Detoxing and had a PF nite... Post by nancyc on Jun 19th, 2002, 10:31am I am now off all antiseizure meds and had a PF nite last nite...it was wonderful...I slept all nite long....i had read on the mb once, that some folks tried to detox from all the high doses of meds they were on, and it helped their chs...Keep your fingers crossed...I feel great this morning...Thinking i was on such high doses that my liver and kidneys were messing up bad...I am still on verap and two antidepressants ...but NO MORE antiseizures for me...smiles, nancyc |

Thank you so much for writing in and letting us know how you are doing. I pray you continue to have good luck with this!! I too am weaning off of a seizure medicine (Neurontin), after taking it for about 4 years. Aside from the fact that it made me gain about 30 lbs., I was on such a low dosage of it (300 mg in the morning, 300 in the evening), I'm also taking Topamax and my neurologist felt that the reason I'm experiencing some annoying head rushes (not really painful, unless they happen TOO many times throughout the day)...but occur enough to interrupt my life...that we felt that we could try to wean off the Neurontin and see if I could do without it. Why take more medicines and put this JUNK in your body if you really don't need it. I must say that I was scared to death to begin this weaning-down process. Were you? I'm into week #4 and it will take a total of 11 weeks before I'm through. So far, except for my body adjusting with little "tweakes" here and there...I think I'm doing okay. Thanks again Nancy for the update. Isn't it GREAT to take a breath and feel NORMAL again! I wish that for everyone here.... |
