Title: Myofascial Release...
Post by Margi on Jun 12th, 2002, 12:37pm
ECC, you took your question down about this ... :(

I've never heard of this treatment, but it sounds similar to Cranio Sacral therapy.  I have a friend who does that for a living and she thinks it can give some temporary relief to cluster pain.  So, if the Myofascial is similar - it probably would too.

HAS anyone else heard of this treatment?  Leave no stone unturned, gang.  Explore every possible route to relief.

Margi, I cannot find the question!

This is not about making a new myelin sheath for your trigemenal nerve, that somebody send me an e-mail about, I hope.

That was pure drivel as far as I could see.

Had to look this up. Found it.

Go to Myofascial_Release.com to find all about this.
The site says specifically this treatment is
FOR TENSION HEADACHES.

It also says the treatment may ease the pain of migraines but cannot treat them.

It says nothing about proper clusters.

The fascial system is (supposedly) "a very densely woven sheath, covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein as well as all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord". It all gets tightly knotted up when you suffer from an illness.
The purpose to invent yet another crazy feature of our body is (you guessed it) to sell books and video tapes that 'help' you to untangle the nots. >:(

Click here (http://www.myofascialrelease.com/mfr/mfr_what.asp?wss=E0D264C877F711D68C1D00010294A5B4) to read about this crack pot theory.

ECC post was about Caroline Myss Ph.D. (http://www.myss.com/), a doctor who went astray and finds more money in treating the twisted 'chakras' of some unwary suckers.

Thanks, AnneMarie and Ueli - I knew someone here would know where to look.   I did a search yesterday and didn't find much.

Hopefully, ECC will see these responses.

You guys rock!  :)
