Title: the best I ever experienced!!
Post by erik on May 29th, 2002, 10:07am
going into my 5th day with absolutly no pain no shadows . this new medication i am on is absolutly awsome a few side affects but nothing i cant handle
I looked in the library and could not find anything on fentanyl so far it is a wonder drug side affects i am experiencing are sweating at times dissiness at times and tiredness the metoclopramide works real well to suppress the nausea and sweating the docter gave me some ridalin to help stop some of the mild insomnia /tiredness however i cant seem to keep them down and puke them up immediatly, he assures me that all these side affects will dissapear once the body gets completly used to the fentanyl . and it will become the only meds i will have to use . this drug is giving me and my family new life. anybody else ever tried this drug ?
on imitrex i was never completly pain free this stuff again it has taken all pain away . life is beautiful.
I pray and hope that everybody will be PF. and beat the beast. ERIK

Are you on the patches?  Are you chronic or episodic?  I could not remember....

I am on the patches have been both over the last 25 years dose is 25mcg/h and is called duragesic fentanyl transdermal system. this cluster started first week of september and lasted up until last friday started the patch on thursday they are available in doses up to 100mcg/h  also this cluster i did have 2  /3day periods with no meds only to start rite up again my history for the last 10 years had been clusters thru the year lasting 3 mnths relief for 3 weeks and start up again
this year had been differrent in that I was experiensing them on both sides left as well as right .$9000 dollars of imitrex since sept this new treatment will cost $150 per month the patch is supposed to be good up to 72 hours but i have to change mine as of now every day my body uses up the serum in 24 hrs when patch is empty headpain is back almost immeadiatly at full force in my case my attacks are severe at the high to not measuring on the kip scale full blown in 2 minutes from onset. I have made a list of all the medication i have tried over the last 25 years it totals 39 different types all of the ones mentioned on this website except for the dhe injectable but i used it in pill form. nancy I know how hard of a time you are having if you have never tried this you should talk to your neuro about this .
PFDAN to you ERIK

Erik,

God bless, and keep us posted!  Glad to hear that you found relief one way or another.  Please keep us up to date on how you are doing.  Hopefully, others will find relief through this as well.

Peace,

Rick

Hey Erik

I have tested duragesic pads"fentanylpads" and now i use only imitrex shots combined with oxygen.
The dangerous thing about the pads is that you can be addicted, and thats not a good thing as i see that.
So my advice from me to you is to take it easy with that stuff.
Have you tried everything else?

svenn  considered getting the tri nerve cut only a few weeks ago I am under the control of apain management specialist and yes they can be addictive that is why a proper specialist is needed to help control and administer the right dosage have used imiterx injections and pills from the day they hit the market but even imitrex can have its side affects and possible addiction
maybe no docter has ever truly written or spoken about the side effects and addiction but I now qiut a few people who would dissagree with that including myself. however i do appriciate your concern and wish you and everybody in pain PFDAN  ERIK
