Title: Has Anyone Tried Baclofen? Post by Medlengough on Apr 29th, 2002, 11:37pm I recently had a followup appointment with my GP at which I felt he was certainly going to drop me as a patient since the Neuro he had recommended me to see had turned out to be very uneducated on cluster headache. To my surprise, he was quite friendly. He opened up dialog after I told him that after my last visit I hadn't done much but research. He mentioned the trigeminal nerve and the fact that my pain had progressed from the typical cluster headache pattern to chronic. I responded that in my research, I had decided it was definately the trigeminal nerve involved, but had gone from cyclic to almost neuralgic. At this he ask me if I had ever tried Baclofen, which I hadn't, although I had tried similar drugs as Neurontin, etc. I took the prescription but with not much optimism. I only filled the prescription for one seventh of the total, fearing it would be exspensive and of no value. After my trial use I have noticed very, very good results. I do not want to jump to any conclusions although I pray that the medication may be helping. As I fill the rest of the prescription and continue, I was wondering if any one else has tried it and knows much about it. I have two months worth left, so I will report back in with results, although I realize that a person can go into a cycle "remission" for unknown reasons. It may just be a coincidence. So wanted to know if anyone else has had any positive results before I make any judgements. Thanks, and I am doing much better, maybe just the change in seasons, but at this point I'm just grateful. Title: Re: Has Anyone Tried Baclofen? Post by ave on Apr 30th, 2002, 7:35am Yes, I seem to remember somebody else reporting good results with this med. but to be sure you would have to check the archives. Try Teds tip and search in the archives of last year and back; more posts are congregated there. |

Title: Re: Has Anyone Tried Baclofen? Post by clavers on Apr 30th, 2002, 8:07am I have been on baclofen since the first of the year. For about two months the results were very good. I would have an occasional mild CH at night, but during the day they were very rare. Then I began to get another series of clusters, sometimes six a day. This lasted about a month. I continued to take baclofen. Now for the past two weeks or so I have been relatively free of pain. I don't know exactly what is happening, but I intend to continue the baclofen. By the way, I am chronic. |
