Title: Relpax(Eletriptan) Is it available?Need info on it Post by Lori on Mar 7th, 2002, 8:14pm I want to start off by saying thanks so much for all the sharing of info you all do here. It's been so much help in guiding me to research and try to see what's what. This is my first time being diagnosed with CH and I do have a dr who doesn't mind me bringing in the info I've found on CH to her. Anyway, I have read a little in the archives on Relpax...is it now available? For those who have tried it (if avail) does it work as good/better than Imitrex? I have not seen anyone really mention this drug on the newer Message board (from what I could find) so just wondering. I go back to dr. in morning and want to get something that will abort CH attack if I get severe one. It seems the Indomethacin she put me on Tue. may be helping. CH dull...and moderate....so far. Thanks again for input!! I do really appreciate all of you helping your fellow CHers!!!!! |

Title: Re: Relpax(Eletriptan) Is it available?Need info o Post by pinksharkmark on Mar 8th, 2002, 2:16am Relpax was approved in the EU in June of last year, and Pfizer expects to receive the go-ahead to sell it in the US "sometime in 2002". From the articles I have read regarding its efficacy, it seems to be not really any different than any of the other triptans. It is available only in oral form, and the required dose is higher than that of any other triptan except oral Imitrex: Imitrex: 50 or 100 mg Relpax: 40 or 80 mg Zomog: 2.5 or 5 mg It has been around since 1997, and seems to be taking quite a bit longer to get FDA approval than the other triptans did. I have no idea why... probably a typical FDA snafu, since many other countries have approved its use. pinky |
