Title: Shroom Spores??? Post by michelle on Mar 4th, 2002, 8:37pm as of this past tuesday i thought i finished my episode. I didn't say anything because i had a fear of jinxing myself. it was exactly 8 weeks of pain daily. i stopped all the meds and today 6 days later i woke with a hour and a half long (kip scale 7 f***ing cluster) i fear i've become chronic after 22 years but am waiting to see if i get more before going to the dr. i read somewhere on this board that shroom spores are legal? If that is true, does anyone know where to order them from? it scares me, but all the reading i've been doing on this site, it seems like the best proven treatment. i wish you all PFDAN as this site has been a godsend to me. (sorry about my whining) |

Title: Re: Shroom Spores??? Post by Mastifflvr28 on Mar 4th, 2002, 9:23pm Hi Michelle, Here are a couple of suppliers that I've gotten spores from and they've been great. http://www.geocities.com/freesporering2002/ and: http://www.lilshopofspores.com They both have a huge variety of strains of spores. I also e-mailed you some other info and a growers guide. Good luck and let me know if you have anymore questions. ;) |

Title: Re: Shroom Spores??? Post by pinksharkmark on Mar 7th, 2002, 5:52am Spores of psilocybin-bearing mushrooms are legal because it is the compound itself, psilocybin, that is a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, and spores contain no psilocybin. However, for some reason no one can justify, California and Georgia have declared the possession of spores of psilocybin-bearing mushrooms to be illegal. This is ironic since every fall literally thousands of Psilocybe semilanceata (Liberty Cap) mushrooms pop up on the lawn of the California State Legislature (there have been pictures in newspapers showing this) and Georgia probably has more fields with Psilocybe cubensis growing wild than anyplace else in the US except maybe Florida. Go figure. Please note that there is no point eating spores to treat your CH, since it is the psilocybin that breaks the CH cycle. It will be necessary to actually GROW a batch of mature mushrooms, and cultivating mushrooms that contain psilocybin IS illegal in all fifty states. pinky |

Title: Re: Shroom Spores??? Post by Lori on Mar 7th, 2002, 10:26am Forgive me for being ignorant on this subject...I am new here and first time hearing about this subject...so...the spores you are talking about...is this what you make the tea with that I've read alittle about on here? Does it work in all cases to break a cycle? Is it mostly for chronics or eposodic as well? Thanks for any info... |

Title: Re: Shroom Spores??? Post by pinksharkmark on Mar 7th, 2002, 4:26pm No, Lori... the spores are what you need to grow mushrooms. Spores are the fungal equivalent of seeds. Plants grow from seeds, mushrooms grow from spores. The "tea" is made from mushrooms, not from spores. In the case of the most commonly cultivated species of psilocybin mushroom, Psilocybe cubensis, it will take around 4 to 6 weeks to grow mature mushrooms from spores. There are many, many clusterheads who now grow their own mushrooms, rather than obtain them on the black market or pick them from the wild. Growing mushrooms is a very simple and inexpensive process -- anyone can do it. According to reports we have received on this board, the success rate in breaking cycles for episodic clusterheads who are free of other medications at the time they take the mushrooms is around 95%. I am aware of only two episodics for whom the mushrooms did not work. One of those episodics had had it work for him several times over the past two and a half years, but on his last attempt they did not seem to have any effect on the headaches at all. The other episodic was trying them for the first time. He took 4 doses over a period of a few weeks without managing to break the cycle. To the best of MY knowledge (and I believe I have read EVERY post ever made on this board by anyone who has tried mushrooms) these are the ONLY two medication-free episodics who were unable to break a CH cycle with psilocybin mushrooms. The success rate for chronics is lower, but still at least 75% to 80%, maybe more, according to the reports we have received here. This may be due to the fact that chronics almost invariably are saturated with other medications they have been taking for long periods of time in order to lessen the severity of the CH, or it may be simply because the chronic version of CH is a lot more tenacious than the episodic version. And, even on chronics for whom it works, it works for a shorter period of time. With episodics, once the mushrooms have broken the cycle, another cycle will usually not begin for at least 6 months to a year, sometimes more. Normally the next cycle will begin at its regularly scheduled time: for example, if your cycle starts every year in the spring, and you kill it with mushrooms, your next cycle will begin the following spring. But for most chronics, a dose of mushrooms will keep the CH away for only weeks or months. Some (one or two) chronics have received as much as 4 or 5 months remission, some 2 or 3 months, and some get as little as ten days to two weeks, although many who originally got only two weeks remission have found that as time goes on each dose lasts a little longer, and are now getting remissions of 4 or 5 weeks per dose. For more information, I strongly suggest you read: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=meds;action=display;num=1013709016 In the last section of the post I linked above you will find a link to the "Clusterhead Shroom Site" where you can check dozens of posts collected from this board from people who have tried the mushroom treatment over the last three years. Go to the site and click on the sections titled "2001 posts" and "2000 posts" at the bottom of the page. Thank you Ueli for spending the time to collect all these posts! And, of course, thanks to Flash who brought this treatment to our attention in the first place, and spent a LOT of time and energy convincing the rest of us to try it. pinky |
