Title: How much taurine in pill form is safe? Post by Mybelle on Mar 27th, 2008, 8:26pm I figured the pills would be cheaper, and if he doesn't have a headache he could use it as a preventative. He took it last nite, felt good and took one this morning...500 mg. a piece. I don't think he had to drink a red bull all day - anybody venture a guess as to what is safe mgs. for a day? 8) |

Title: Re: How much taurine in pill form is safe? Post by sandie99 on Mar 28th, 2008, 8:18am Mybelle, when I did my taurine pill trial, I took one 500mg pill/day for 50 days. That box I had mentioned that I'm allowed to take just one, so I followed that. In my case, that 500mg pill was enough; my stomach got bit upset during the trial, so I didn't even consider taking more. I know that other folks in here have taken higher doses and I'm sure that they'll be here to tell about their experinces shortly. :) Sanna |

Title: Re: How much taurine in pill form is safe? Post by monty on Mar 28th, 2008, 8:39am Here is a review that suggests that the 'observed safe level' for taurine is up to 3 grams per day. The actual safe level may be even higher, although there is not enough evidence to say that now. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18325648 This assumes that a person is reasonably healthy, and does not include possible interactions with prescription meds. Several studies on humans have used 6 grams or more per day with no observed side effects; these were for cholesterol, blood pressure, or nervous conditions. |
