Title: Medical Marijuana Post by RabidClock on Mar 5th, 2008, 10:25am I was just wondering if anyone had tried marijuana during their cycles. My girlfriend has these headaches, and I'm doing a bit of research on my own to try and help her through her suffering. This is a serious question, marijuana has genuine use in medicine, I'm not looking to get her stoned for kicks or anything like that. I did a quick search of the forums and didn't find anything other than the mention on one post that it's a possible trigger, but looking at the list, it wasn't really saying much. |

Title: Re: Medical Marijuana Post by Guiseppi on Mar 5th, 2008, 10:30am I haven't seen anyone post success with it as a preventative or as an abortive. And believe me, we are an open minded group and would latch on to it in a heart beat if it was effective. I have seen numerous postings that it is actually a trigger fro many, so if you partake while she is in cycle I would keep it far away from her. PS...thanks for being a supporter, you guys keep us sane! Guiseppi |

Title: Re: Medical Marijuana Post by Superdave on Mar 5th, 2008, 10:35am A friend told me that this can be a double edged sword. On one hand it can be an instant trigger, give it 5 min. and the fight is on. On the other hand, It can also relax him to the point of a good rest, ready for a good nights sleep. Proceed with caution. :-X |

Title: Re: Medical Marijuana Post by RabidClock on Mar 5th, 2008, 10:41am Hmm, the trigger could be more from the smoke than say the THC. Perhaps an in home experiment with a vaporizer to bypass the smoke would be worth a shot. If anything it'll help her relax and maybe help with the fear associated with sleep. And not to worry, I don't partake, and I certainly wouldn't near her if I did; just trying to think outside the box :3 |

Title: Re: Medical Marijuana Post by AussieBrian on Mar 5th, 2008, 10:42am Great that you're staying by her side while she's got certain problems, Rabid, and there should be more blokes like you. Priority one is to working out just what sort of headaches she has and, believe me, there's hundreds to choose from. A good place to start is just over on the left side of your screen where it says "Cluster Quiz". Have a go at that and see if perhaps she fits in, but we remain your friend even if she doesn't and can offer serious help in all sorts of different directions. |

We both did the quiz separately (I'm currently overseas and worried sick). I did it through my personal observations, and her through experience and we're both fairly certain this is what it is. She's still seeing a headache specialist of course, but with such odd symptoms with a headache - there really doesn't seem like much else it could be. |

Then you're off to a great start, mate, and I just wish we could have met anywhere but here but this is where the journey begins, among friends. You ask the questions, we'll do our best to answer them. |

Title: Re: Medical Marijuana Post by Grandma_Sweet_Boy on Mar 5th, 2008, 11:25am Perhaps you could encourage her to join up here and get her questions answered - would also give her some support from others that suffer as well. Thanks for being a supporter. We would all be lost without them. Carol |

This seems like a leap in thought. Many CH'ers smoke, if smoke triggered, that certainly wouldn't be the case. With its familiar and sometimes pleasant smell, I'm not familiar with the smell being a trigger either, could be for those with the experience of smoking it and now knowing it to be a trigger. Quote:
Relax I can see, but preventing what is feared - getting hit - could still be a problem. As a reliever for this type of pain, it would seem to have shortcomings. Quote:
both anecdotal and scientific suggests it's good for boosting appetite among HIV patients and suppressing nausea among cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Quote:
This site is for that, and the OUCH link over on the left. Quote:
A diagnosis is important, treatment is different for even related symptoms, starting with an MRI and a good helping headache log to present. |

Title: Re: Medical Marijuana Post by darknight on Mar 5th, 2008, 12:31pm MJ has and always will affect people differently, ive found smoke, not smoking, a trigger mainly when there are a couple of people smoking in a room with no window open (gave up a couple of weeks ago). As a preventative or abortive id say no never and i wish it was!!! You may find whilst researching on the site Oxygen comes up quite a bit and i can preach to the abortive powers of 02 which if you turn it around smoking restricts oxygen so id say it will never help (smoking) but if you have to smoke make sure your in a well ventilated room or at least outside!! ;) hope you both work it out!! Title: Re: Medical Marijuana Post by Globi77411 on Mar 6th, 2008, 2:20am My personal experience is marijuana does not help. I've used it for a long time every evening just before going to sleep. Yes, it takes the edge of the fear for going tot sleep and get hit.......it does not abort an attack. If you are real stoned you might sleep through the first attack......if it's not a KIP 9 or 10. At the end you will wake up feeling a train hit you anyway. I also believe that using marijuana will have negative effects if used for a long time. It took me even longer to wake up and 'clear' my mind in the morning. And about the smoke? You can smoke it without tobacco. I do hear/read good stories about using mushrooms. Maybe that is an option as well? |

Title: Re: Medical Marijuana Post by wanna_swap_brains on Mar 6th, 2008, 4:07am to avoid the smoke, try eating it,if you use solids, try crumbling it in a yoghurt or a coffee and if you use greens just add it to a bowl of muesili or a home made cake mix.its not as full on when eaten, more of a creeper. |

Title: Re: Medical Marijuana Post by RabidClock on Mar 12th, 2008, 6:46pm So we know that MJ either has no effect or triggers it. Now we just have to find the opposite of MJ ;;D I've also heard about LSD and shrooms, that's something in the works for testing as many people have noticed a drastic change for the positive after trying one of these two. |
