Title: When Does Imitrex STAT Dose Patent or Vial Expire? Post by Ob1kanobee on Feb 21st, 2008, 11:40pm Was wondering if anyone knew when the patent on the Imitrex STAT dose expired or the vial form? I don't care about the pills. Another question: if your going to divide up your 6mg dose into 1/3 to get 3 times as many doses, are you better off to get the STAT pack and use the "Imitrex Tip" or try to get the Doc to write it up under the vial (if there is such a thing). I have heard some talk about a vila for on hear and no the STAT dose pack. Was thinking that when the patent expired the price would come down or there would be a Generic available.... |

As far as I know this is the pills' experience. Injection will expire in August this year. Zentiva (Czeh Rep.) produce Cinie (sumatriptan) pills since last year and Pliva's (Croatia) too (Illument). Zentiva sells Cinie on the half price here. Tried to get info from Zentiva about generic Suma injection but failed. It's secret now. Googled: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumatriptan |

Title: Sumatriptan inject - generic drug Post by cluster on Feb 25th, 2008, 11:50am Two brands of generic sumatriptan inject are already available in Switzerland, please see: http://www.generika.cc/de/oekk/compare/pointer/%3A%21registration%2C58513%21sequence%2C01%21package%2C002./search_type/st_oddb/search_query/sumatriptan The price is less than half the price of the original Imigran = Imitrex inject. I could not find any internet shop yet selling this generic Imitrex. |

In the triptan price chart though she cant, I wish she would mention the one that helps a lot of Clusterheads the most, RCseeds at .06 per dose with no current patents existing. :P |

Title: Re: When Does Imitrex STAT Dose Patent or Vial Exp Post by Giovanni on May 7th, 2008, 7:25pm I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but just curious here. First, I used HUNDREDS of stat dose imitrex injections. A couple years ago I tried Zomig nasal spray. What I found was: 1. Zomig takes about 15 to 20 minutes to work while imitrex injections would take about 5-6 minutes. 2. With imitrex injections during the apex of a cycle (in my episodic days) the next attack could be again in another hour or shortly thereafter. 3. With Zomig the next attack may be held to 4-6 hours. In my case, the zomig was preferred even though it takes longer to work because of reason #3. For those who may not have the insurance money/resources for imitrex injects, you might want to give a try to the Zomig which is much cheaper. Your results might be different. John |
