So I've been doing the Melitonin thing for a week or so.

So far it is 50% effective. About every other night I still get my ball kicked in, but that means every other night I don't.

Since I had been getting whacked pretty good everynight this is great news!

These results typical in your experience?

Any idea on how I can maybe do a little better? I ain't bitchin or anything, for sure no, but ..........

I've been on the stuff since Friday slight pain @ 4 am and again @ 8 am PF since knock on wood.
I ask for the best and most expensive bottle they had, and I can feel it in my body,
Fingers crossed

I raced a superhawk a few years ago any relation?

How much are you taking? I started out with 6mg then 9 then 12 and I haven't had a major one at night yet.

I'm doing 9mg of capsules @ bedtime.
Capsules will absorb into your system better than pills.
Is yours working at all, the information is if one brand isn't working for you, try another brand.

It moved most of my night hits to early morning. This was great because it let me sleep 8) I fight better after a good nights sleep.

9-12mg did it for me. If I started getting hit I'd up it to 12mg and then back off after a few nights of peace.

Sounds about right. I get hit almost exclusively at night, and melatonin seems to reduce the number of nighttime hits I get--which means it reduces the number of hits I get during a cycle overall.

I never expected it to be a magic bullet--and it isn't--but I'll settle for a semi-magic bullet that has no noticeable side effects.

Right now I am running 6 mg, pill form.

Think it is ok to jump up to 12 in one step?

yeah, I'll take somethign that works sometime over nothing.

I take 12 mg of melatonin and 50 mg of benadryl-generally get three or four good nights of sleep (6-7 hours) then have one or two bad nights-waking up every hour getting the ice pack and O2.
Even on the good nights though-when I first doze off, I wake up in a sweat with a runny nose on my cluster side. Like the CH is trying to break through.
Anyhow, it beats the heck out of what I was going through. And the benadryl also helps my allegies (cats and dogs-both of which I have).

Good luck, and as far as I know (I am not a doctor) its alright to go up from 6mg to 12 mg in one day.

I told my neuro I was taking it and he said go ahead and keep it up. Up to 12 mg.
