Title: help: needed prescription in London Post by vitaliy.se on Feb 12th, 2008, 3:12am Hello, I live in Moscow and here in Russia we don't have sumatriptan (Imitrex, Imigran) injection here. We have only pills. The effect from pills comes in 25-35 mins (if you suffer from CH you know what it means to WAIT this 30 mins) I have a friend in London that is going to visit Moscow in March. He can buy sumatriptan injections for me in London but he needs prescription. If anybody can help with prescription in London please contact me at vitaliy.se at gmail dot com. Thanks in advance. Regards, Vitaliy S |

This is ch.com where we happily dispence knowlege and support on the subject of Cluster Headaches, but we're not real big on forged prescriptions nor the illicit movement of controlled drugs between continents. Try googling words like tong, triad and cia. Perhaps you'll have more luck. |

There is nothing illicit in bringing sumatriptat ijection from Uk to Russia. In Russia injections are not produced but not prohibited. Sumatriptan is not a narcotic. What's wrong if I want to buy several doses for my self? I want to by a clustermask as well, do you consider it illegal too? Just try imaging that you live in a country where you can not buy sumatriptan that can help you(not because it is illegal but because it is not produced) , what will you do? BTW there was a GP in Sydney that was offering nasal spray with sumatriptan for free (because she had several that she don't need any more). I bet person like you will call CIA for communist like her. try to google words: paranoia or mental disorder ;-) Regards, Vitaliy S |

Title: Re: help: needed prescription in London Post by Beastfodder on Feb 12th, 2008, 6:55am Vitaliy, It's only a short term fix - but grind the pills up and take it with a fizzy drink - Red Bull would be ideal. It'll get the meds in your system faster, but nowhere near as quick as an injection. You won't get any joy via the NHS and prescriptions in the UK, but can always try going private if your budget stretches that far. |

I still hope that I'll get some injections. Probably someone have several left and don't need it any more (maybe he is lucky and his cluster has ended). In that case I 'd buy it from him. I don't need many, just want to keep something in case I'm hit really bad. PS Thanks for the hint. I'll try to grind pills but IMHO if it can work faster they'd produced it in that form. sorry, what is NHS? |

Title: Re: help: needed prescription in London Post by Beastfodder on Feb 12th, 2008, 3:46pm NHS = national health service which looks after us here in the UK and usually pretty damn well. In the UK you must be registered with a Doctor - who gives you a prescription which you pay a relatively small amount for at a chemist. Going privately you pay to see a doctor then pay full price for the medication prescribed. You'll get no support from the NHS from Russia since you are neither based here nor a resident, google private UK health clinics and doctors and you'll find some people to talk to about what you want as long as your credit card works! |

Title: Re: help: needed prescription in London Post by vitaliy.se on Feb 12th, 2008, 4:53pm Thank you for information. If I get you right you have to pay to visit a doctor even in case you know better than doctor what drug exactly you need? Here in Russia you pay for doctor only if you need doctor's help (actually you don't even have to pay, you can visit a doctor for free but the quality of doctor in national health service system is quite low) and of course you pay for a drug you need, but only for narcotics or other HEAVY drugs you need a prescription. You don't need prescription to get verapamil or sumatriptan or O2. Second question if you please? Can GP give a prescription for sumatriptan injections in UK or I have to visit neurologist? Title: Re: help: needed prescription in London Post by Beastfodder on Feb 13th, 2008, 6:55pm Yes UK doctors will prescribe sumatriptan injections, rather they are available at pharmacies. If you find a private practice they may be able to fix you up as a paying patient. Wouldn't it be better to contact the Russian importer of the drug and ask if they can't supply you direct with your own doctor prescribing locally? Try O2 I've found it better than triptans in many ways, it works really well to stop attacks in around 5 minutes can be used as much as you like and doesn't have health warnings. |
