Title: O2 Question - probably a repeat - but -
Post by echo on Dec 13th, 2007, 11:29am
forgive me, I'm bald.

I've tried O2 twice in the past 5 years - no benefit.

Has anyone experienced failure one year but success the next?

Just curious - I'm thinking about going through the hassle and trying it again.   I just think I'll be wasting my time and money.

Get a clustermasx, dude.  Yeah I've had stuff that worked and then didn't work, that's like this cycle melatonin didn't do a damn thing.  But I'll use it again next time.

Yes. I never had much success with it as I have in the last year. If you can get a clustermasx, go for it. If not, Mr Happy has a pic of a home rig that may deliver as well. Save your paper towel tube, LOL.

I'd say it's worth a shot. Slam an ebergy drink right before and huff until something works.

hugs and pf wishes, nani

I had tried 02 with no success ..always in the ER. It wasn't administered properly. Has to be 100% 02. I modified a non- re breather by taping the butterfly shut and made sure the other one closed during inhalation. Only then did it work. Not during a K9 with a nose tube. Cant beat it when it works.

Cheesus..........talk about devotion.
O2 failure is frequently due to end user stupidity.........thus the advent of the Cmasx. (I'm living proof of the stupidity part.)

I have BAGS full of other shit that works....but O2 is till the Numero Uno.

That, and Prairie Squid.

The O2 never worked for me well until I got the clustermask. ;)

I'm with Jonny, a danged cheap investment that might pay huge dividends. I use a demand mask and it's worked for years and years. Best of luck to you.

Your end goal is TO ABSOLUTELY SATURATE YOUR BLOODSTREAM WITH OXYGEN AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN. With that in mind, you can see how the following can be a total waste of time:

  • The partial rebreather mask
  • Nasal cannulas
  • Flow rates below 10 liters per minute

If you don't have a Clustermasx, you'd be better to suck every breath directly off a hose connected to a regulator set at a minimum of 10 liters per minute (15-25 lpm would be much better).

I'll say it again because it's that important:

YOUR GOAL IS TO ABSOLUTELY SATURATE YOUR BLOODSTREAM WITH OXYGEN AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN. Blood highly saturated with O2 sends a message to the brain to start constricting blood vessels, and this is how we get relief.

So you breath it?

I was sticking the tube up my a ss.  Who knew.

Wow, lesson learned.

-------------------------
Sounds like its worth another shot with a new setup.  Had the non rebreather, 100% @ 10. new mask may just be the trick.

Thanks all
