Title: Preventive in Pregnancy?
Post by sioux-z on Nov 28th, 2007, 9:22am
Does anyone know of a safe preventative medication you can take during pregnancy?  O2 is working as an abortive but my labor is coming soon and if there is anything I can do to break this cycle b/f that I would.  So far my neuro has no ideas.

A prevent to break your cycle while pregnant?  No, I'm sorry, but there isn't.

Hi Sioux-z

I'm a goober because i should have read this post of yours first. I replied to your nursing question. you haven't had your baby yet :)

Depending on how awful you are feeling right now I would consult with your neuro about the possible use of verapamil as a preventative. They sometimes give it to pregnant women to help lower blood pressure. Have your doc look it up. You will have to weigh the benefits and the risks of this for your health and your baby's health.

My OB/GYN and my headache doc  wanted me to take it and I decided not to because I'm too paranoid about taking anything when I am pregnant.

The best med is support!! We are here for you!  Keep your eye on that babyprize and you can do it!!! Painfree wishes for you!

Many hugs!!
