Title: Question regarding Red Bull/Rockstar
Post by JohnMcCloy on Nov 21st, 2007, 1:27pm
Hi all.
I know many of you have success with Energy drinks such as Redbull however I have attempted this in the past with very minimal results.
Is there a brand which many of you have found to work quite well?
Does it matter if you try Sugar free in terms of effectiveness?
Is there a method which works better for most of you?

Thanks all & I am glad to see you have success with Red Bull.

I guess the only thing to mention, is be sure when you try this to drink it down quickly. I'd say within 3-5 minutes. You might want to try a different brand too. Just check the ingredients/nutritional info on the can, and be sure it has Taurine and caffeine. Some brands list how much of each is in there, some don't. I try to stick with the ones that do.... About 1,000mg of each per serving.

Hope this helps!
Adam

P.S. The Rock Star brand, "Punched" flavor isn't too bad. Might want to give that one a try.

Artificial sweeteners are a trigger for me, so I only drink the high-test.

Also, my fave has become NOS. Tastes like passionfruit. Plus it has lots of caffeine and taurine. A cheap alternative is Red Thunder from Aldi. About $0.80 per can.

Try challenging yourself - open it and slam it. Keep chugging until it's gone. If you can't do that, just do it as quickly as you can. The quicker it's in you, the quicker it will work. If one doesn't work, drink a 2nd.

Thanks Brew & Ski.
I have been slamming them in under a minute & Will certainly give NOS a shot as well.
Even if it works 25% of the time Ill take it lol

The key is to drink is as soon as you feel the beast coming. I'm drinking mine ice cold with ice, because cold generally helps me with the beast, but I do know that for many others in here the temperature doesn't make a huge difference. I've noticed as well that if I don't drink it asap, energy drinks don't help.

I've noticed that also caffeine tablets can help, so I keep them at house as well.

One word of caution:  Monster Energy drinks contain Ginseng which may be a trigger for some folks.

My 1st choice is sugar free red bull, and 2nd choice is lo carb monster.  I have tried other brands & types, including a green tea energy drink from Arizona, and they've all helped in varrying degrees.  I was not a cold drink drinker when I first tried it, so it took a little getting used to, but now it is part of my arsenal.

It is always good to read the ingredients and to know if anything included is one of your red flags, before you try it.

read the label-need caffeine and taurine...bigger cans=more servings...drink as fast as you can...warning: may cause massive energy "burps".
I have taught my young son to say "Good one, Mom" ;;D

I open the can and put it in the refrigerator.  By the time I need it...most of the carbonation is gone but it's still icy cold.  Makes downing that tall can a whole LOT easier.

I found an energy drink called RedJack that has been working for me.  I have only found it locally at a convience store in this area called Farm Fresh.  It's strawberry flavored and I think it is made by 7up.  The only difference I have found is that it contains no high fructose corn syrup.  Plus .99 for a 16oz. can is a great deal.  I stock up so often, the last time I was in there, the cashier said "so your the one buying all of these"

That's right - RedJak is sweetened with - gasp - real sugar. And I thought it tasted more like cherry than strawberry, but I could be wrong.

Im an E. Drink addict....I have tried many different ones. The NOS is GREAT, not too bad on taste and loaded with the caffeine and taurine. But its a lil more costly. I usually buy the "Rip It" brand from the Dollar Store. Its like $3.50 for 4 cans. Taste is good, the orange is better than the red and has like 10 mg more caffiene (if that amount even counts).

As for success with them, they worked like a miracle in the beginning of my cycle, but as I got more hits, stronger hits, they were not even touching them. I have downed 4 Redbulls back to back, and it didn't do a thing, then topped it off with extra strong coffee. So it just depends on the cycle, person, etc.
They do help me daily, pushing back shadows, which I tend to get creeping up all day long. I start my day with an E. Drink, just to get rid of the lingering HA from the hits I get at night. They have become a part of my daily regime..I panic when I go to the fridge and see I'm out, lol... :P

Beth, you're lucky! I love most things with strawberry, so if I could get that drink back in here, you can be sure that I'd get it as soon as possible. :)

I have to agree that if one doesnt work then try another. I buy the regular Red Bull by the case at Costco and keep them in our bedroom fridge. I've always hated those wake you up out of a dead sleep bastards. I'm chronic and usually get hit somewhere between 3 and 5am. If I have a spare Trex nasal I use that too.

[smiley=crackup.gif]  Now that was funny!

16oz Sugar Free Rock Star works great for me.  Open it, slam it in two gulps and chase with O2!  Repeat as necessary.  Stay near a bathroom though as it seems to stream out the other end almost as fast as I drink it  ;;D
