Title: Missed Verap = no headache??? Post by edsiajb on Sep 7th, 2007, 10:10am I started Verapamil 12 days ago along with a Prednisone taper. While on the Prednisone, I had no headaches but as soon as the taper was finished, they were back...every night like clockwork with moderate to strong shadows throughout the day. So last night I had no headache. I awoke this morning elated but realized that I had missed my dose of Verapamil yesterday evening. Could there be a connection between the missed dose and no headache? I don't think so but I have to ask. Also, the Imitrex injections are like a miracle. I know that will diminish with useage. Right now, I get relief within four to seven minutes of the injection. |

Title: Re: Missed Verap = no headache??? Post by DennisM1045 on Sep 7th, 2007, 12:13pm I doubt the missed dose had anything to do with it. Verap takes at least 14 days to get into your system and begin to work. Enjoy your break. -Dennis- |

Title: Re: Missed Verap = no headache??? Post by edsiajb on Sep 7th, 2007, 1:06pm Thanks. My nuero said something about the Verap taking 14 days. He gave me some samples of the Imetrex injectors (my insurance only pays for a few per month...I've been buying it out-of-pocket so I was very thankful) and he said he was "confident" that I would be CH free before the Imitrex ran out. |

Title: Re: Missed Verap = no headache??? Post by Wayne on Sep 11th, 2007, 2:57am Echo what Dave said, I've tried 3 times now to taper off the stuff. I'm on 480mg a day and completely PF, but 3 to 4 days after I start reducing the dosage (very slowly I might add, 80mg a week was my plan) I get hit horribly, then it takes about 2 days back at 480 to get back pf. |

Title: Re: Missed Verap = no headache??? Post by barry_sword on Sep 11th, 2007, 6:38am I have missed my evening dose a couple of times (I am taking 480mg daily) and have been on Verapamil for 11 months now but seem to get heavy shadows if I miss a dose. I am still in full cycle. I now put my daily dose in a separate pill bottle and never miss taking it as it is routine for me now. Barry |

Title: Re: Missed Verap = no headache??? Post by edsiajb on Sep 11th, 2007, 12:20pm Well...I've been PF for several days now. Still having some mild to moderate shadows during the day but no big hit at night. My Verap is 240mg. |

Title: Re: Missed Verap = no headache??? Post by Wayne on Sep 11th, 2007, 4:45pm Are you taking it religously, if so its probably taking effect and you can rest easy! |

Title: Re: Missed Verap = no headache??? Post by StressFree on Sep 17th, 2007, 10:03am Oddly enough, during some cycles it has seemed that quiting verapamil has coincided with the end of attacks for me. I've seen a couple of others post similar effect. Usually I am down to mainly heavy shadows at that point, so hard to tell for sure. But I did feel there was a connection. |
