Title: Sinus Buster Nasal Spray, work? Post by Neil_C on Sep 4th, 2007, 4:24pm I know the name sounds misleading and doesnt sound like it can help peeps with but I read some testimonials and the story how the product was born. Does anyone here use it and does it do anything for you? Is this just another snake poison saleman that has a product that kinda works? These guys seem to have a product for headaches which include CH aswell. ref: www.sinusbuster.com thanks, Neil_C |

Post by seasonalboomer on Sep 4th, 2007, 5:24pm save your euro's - don't buy it. the pain it generates is simply a very short-term distraction from the pain of CH. worst than snake oil -- at least snake oil is harmless -- this stuff is intensely painful. Yeah, testimonials from their site, quite the convincing factor that might seem hard to refute. ;) Except if you depend on it for CH. |

Title: Re: Sinus Buster Nasal Spray, work? Post by George_J on Sep 4th, 2007, 7:29pm Oil of snake. It's diluted pepper juice, nothing more. FWIW, I once took a full facial blast of 10 percent oleoresin capsicum spray during a training exercise while I was in cycle. My partner made sure to hose me until I dripped. Interesting sensation--like eating a habenero with your whole face, and schnorking it up your nose. Kind of stimulating. Everyone at the training exercise kept talking about how much it hurt to get sprayed, but I thought it amounted to about a kip 2. (Clusterheads have bizarre pain thresholds). I got hit with a CH that night, same as usual. Save your money, in my opinion. Best wishes, George |

Title: Re: Sinus Buster Nasal Spray, work? Post by Neil_C on Sep 4th, 2007, 7:53pm Thanks for the replies. I thought the stuff might sound like a dud in regards to CH. Im new to the beast or the beast is new to me - see, I dont even know which way round it goes, im so new to it. :D Ive only had one cycle so far so everything is pretty damn new to me and Im just prepping myself for the next one. I didnt have anything then - no meds - docs gave me solpadol cause they thought i had sinus pains so as most of you know thats like trying to stop a 10 ton tank with a piece of rice paper. Im not a great fan of popping pills so I think ill go down the O2 road. That might change when the beast returns though. N |

Title: Re: Sinus Buster Nasal Spray, work? Post by Guiseppi on Sep 4th, 2007, 9:12pm What they said, it's snake oil. Another STRONG vote for the 02, almost 30 years tangling with the beast 02 is number one abortive for me, no side effects and incredibly effective!!! Welcome to the board, keep asking questions, we hate seeing people get steered down the wrong roads. Guiseppi |

Title: Re: Sinus Buster Nasal Spray, work? Post by ski2k on Sep 4th, 2007, 11:42pm Yup!!!! O2 is the very best thing I've found too. It's definately worth giving a try. Make sure you're getting the right amount (usually 10-15 lpm), and getting it through a non-rebreather mask. I've had neuro's in the past tell me the mask doesn't work any better than the nasal canules. That is just plain WRONG. use a mask, and try it a few times. It may not work for every headache. If you kill a couple of the "normal" size E-tanks without any results, then maybe try something else. Good luck with the O2, but sorry to hear you need it in the first place! And.... Like Guiseppi stated.... Ask questions! We're all in this together!! Best wishes, and Pain Free Days And Nights to all, Adam |

Haha, I always laugh when I see people come into the emergency room that I work at claiming that on a pain scale of 1-10, that they are a 10! It happens all the time, and each time I just think to myself "They must not get cluster headaches" |

Title: Re: Sinus Buster Nasal Spray, work? Post by Bob P on Sep 5th, 2007, 7:27am According to medical studies it may work some. http://www.ouch-us.org/medications/capsaicin.htm The premise that this works on is that when pain is sensed, substance P is released. Substance P enhances pain, i.e. makes us feel the pain more. Using the spray causes pain and the release of substance P. If used often enough and for a long enough period, it depletes the body of it's substance P supply. Then when a cluster hits, it doesn't hurt as badly. So it probably won't stop clusters but it may tone them down a little. |

Title: Re: Sinus Buster Nasal Spray, work? Post by Father_of_5 on Sep 12th, 2007, 11:44pm I've had CH attacks for about 18 years now and have tried just about everything I've seen/heard on the cluster sites, as I'm sure most others have done. Since I'm wiling to try just about anything nowadays, I bought the Sinus Buster Headache formula. I figured $20 can't hurt after spending $$$ on Imitrex, Zomig, etc. over the years, right? It did seem to take the edge off of some of the attacks but not all of the attacks and it definitely did not abort any of them. I even tried it in conjunction with the Head On stick (remember... willing to try anything...). My attacks seemed shorter than usual if I took a dose of Excedrin (3 tablets), snorted the Sinus Buster 3x and coated my head like a madman with the Head On stuff, repeating every 10-15 minutes. That said, I don't generally remember much during the attacks so it could've been my imagination. Bottom line, I'll try something else next cycle. I agree with the others concering the O2, except that the O2 doesn't work for me once the pain gets past kip 6 or 7. Rob |

Title: Re: Sinus Buster Nasal Spray, work? Post by cash5542 on Sep 15th, 2007, 8:11pm My daughter goes to Jefferson for her CH care. It's a big teaching hospital, full of new interns. While she was in with her doc and the intern the doctor was called out. While he was gone the young intern gave Lisa a note suggesting she try this. He was so proud of himself. When the doc returned he told him he reccommended this and the doctor just laughed and said it's not worth the money and does nothing. This came from one of the top doctors in the country.
