Title: Subutex
Post by buckeyescooter on Aug 14th, 2007, 1:12pm
I haven't posted here in quite some time and wanted to relay my experiences lately.
About 10 months ago I had a serious disc problem in my neck that required 3 epidurals and the use of painkillers. Being a recovering alcoholic and drug addict (6 years for drugs, 18 for alcohol) there was some legitimate concern about a possible relapse. When I finally did get relief from the 3rd epi, I had been on a healthy dose of strong painkillers for about 2 months and knew coming off them would be pretty dicey for me. My Dr. put me on the medication Subutex to ease withdrawals (too much at first) and it really seemed to help once we got the right dose. I am currently on a very low dose, 2 mgs. and have not had a headache the entire time.
Subutex is basically a painkiller without the euphoria, which is what makes painkillers like percocet addictive to people like me. What is most interesting is that I normally have a very high histamine level......ie, sneeze a LOT, etc. Subutex seems to lower that, at least in me, and since histamine plays a part in these MF's I thought I would at least relay it here. I literally haven't sneezed in 6 months where I used to every day.
This may be all a coincidence and have absolutely nothing to do with Clusters. Has anyone else had any experience with Subutex?

No experience here, but I hope this is your silver bullet.

Sorry, I don't have any info to add about Subutex. If that's what is helping you, I'm glad to hear it and I hope your success continues.

I do have a question for you though:

How would you know that you "...normally have a very high histamine level..." ????

Just curious

PS> As I type this now, I'm an inpatient at a hospital getting Histamine infusions.
