Title: Red Bull to the rescue
Post by MR_FLOOR on Jul 7th, 2007, 3:14am
I've been reading about Red Bull on this site for months now but I was scared to trust it,but tonight me and my wife went bowling like we always do(at least once a week)and I forgot my Trex and of coarse I get hit.So I went to the bar and they had Red Bull I figured why not so I slammed 2 of them down and sure enough my CH was aborted even though I read all the time that it works for allot of people there allot of things work for others that don't work for me(old habits)But now I have a different view of it my wife says she is going to stock the fridge with it now.OK I'm a believer.

I found this site just as I was coming to the end of my last cycle so didn't know about red bull at that time.

I shadow almost every day in between cycles and I've tried the red bull for those but it doesnt seem to have much effect. But it is difficult with a shadow to know exactly when to take it as they build up so gradually.

I shall give it a proper try when my next cycle begins

Michael - take it at the first twinge! That is the golden rule as if you hold back you stop it working. Its not like Imi or whatever where you don't want to "waste" it - get it down your neck as fast as you can at the first twinge okay?!

Dave, I'm one of the Red Bull believers myself. :) And I'm so glad to hear that it worked for you! That's wonderful. :)

Michael, I agree with Helen: take it asap! When you feel the first sign, go get it!

PF days,
Sanna

Dave,

I'll be bringing a full case of Red Thunder (Aldi's generic equivalent of Red Bull) on ice to the Party in the Park in Stevens Point. I'm bringing it to share, so grab one and give it a try.

It sells for about $0.70 a can, has the same amount of caffeine and taurine, and tastes better than Red Bull, in my opinion.

Maybe I'll pick some up while I'm there for home.

Hi Dave

So glad that it works for you, its brought so much peace of  mind to me knowing that I have such an easily available abortive at my disposal. I was just as sceptical as you in the beginning but am so glad I tried it. I have found that sometimes the hit reappears after an hour or two so, if it feels like a mother I take a migril with the RedBull and its gone for the night.

PF days to you mate

Didn't know it needed to be two cans. Not heard that before.

I have no experience of energy drinks as I have never used them before. Isn't it a bad thing to have too much of the stimulants that are in these drinks?

Well Mike,

I'm not sure I needed 2 cans but it was my first time using it and I wasn't sure it was working so I downed another one.Maybe I didn't need the second can,but it worked ,next time I will try just 1 can.

Sorry Dave, I misread your post.

You were saying drink as fast as possible like they say you should. I thought you ment drink 2 cans like they say you should.

I can't test this out properly till my next cycle to see what works for me.

When I take Red Bull, I take it with ice and the drink itself is ice cold. One can is enough for me and it works in less than 5 minutes.

Now, we all are individuals and so is the beast. So some of you will need 2 cans before the beast is aborted. I am short sufferer, so I might need smaller amounts to get the same effect. You will find out what works for you.

And whether or not the drink needs to be cold and accompanied with ice... that depends on you, too. I've read that for many it can be warm and help as as easily and quickly.

I take it ice cold and with ice, because cold in general helps me. :)

When you have decided to use energy drinks, do not hesitate to get it asap! Right away, no matter the time of the day!
(I did wait myself once because I got hit soon after breakfast at 9, so getting a red bull after fresh fruits didn't seem so appealing, but I paid for it later.)

Hope this helps,
Sanna

Hi

I take them at room temperature because me and cold are not friends, they still kick the beast in double quick time.

Does red Bull work on the shadows or just the beast?

I have never waited long enough to find out, If I get the slightest hint of a hit I chug one back.

no oxygen here.
neuro would not give me a prescription.

sometimes i wonder if Hell is a constant CH.............

what will it take and how long to find a cure?

If you have been diagnosed by a Neurologist with CH and he/she won't give you an O2 perscription then you don't have a Neurologist.  Dump em and find one that will arm you with what works.  Clearly this one isn't up on what works to abort CH.  Good luck...

Billy, print out this link and show it to your dr.

If all else fails, you can do what I did.
I went to AirGas and bought a tank. I got a 540 (15LPM) regulator from Ebay, and a non rebreather from:
www.clustermasx.com The mask was designed by a CH sufferer and it rocks!

pf wishes, nani

Worked for me too. Didn't have access to o2 or anything else and the slide into torture had begun. I ran out to get some cans of red bull, by the time I got back, about 5 minutes, the pain was fairly intense and increasing rapidly. I drank two of the 8 oz cans, cold, as fast as I could along with 10 mg of prednisone (time for that anyway tapering down). Much to my surprise and delight, I leveled off and within about 20 minutes, the attack was over. An hour later, shadows and I drank another, 1 1/2 hours later felt it coming on again, another can and that was it.  ;;D   Buzzed up and pain free. ::)

Has anyone used the generic brands with similar success?

Aaron

Aaron,
I'm glad to hear that Red Bull works for you, too. So far all the Red Bull's generic equvalents have worked just fine with me. :) So, if you prefer some other energy drinks' taste to RB's, check it out. ;;D

PF days,
Sanna

Hi Aaron

Excellent news! Yes the generics do work, USN for example, also does the trick. Just make sure that whatever you get contains both caffiene and taurine. Some of the energy drinks have other ingredients which arent going to help you at all.

Also the earlier you catch the hit the better, if you can catch it at the outset it should be gone in less than 5 minutes. the more developed it is the longer the RB takes to kick its backside.

Cheers,

Wayne
