Title: Has Zomig really worked for some of you? Post by Zory on Jun 11th, 2007, 4:19pm Hi! I am a new member of the Cluster Family! I just got offically diagnosed about a week ago. I was given Zomig, and the times that I have had to use it it has yet to work...has this happened to anyone? I am about to start using Calan (Veraapmil). |

Title: Re: Has Zomig really worked for some of you? Post by midwestbeth on Jun 11th, 2007, 4:35pm Zory, I've had great success with Zomig. The key is to squirt up the nostril without letting it go down the back of your throat....don't sniff, just try to keep it in your nostril as long as possible. Zomig usually works within 10-15 minutes for me. Hope this helps. Beth |

Yes, Just tilt your head slightly and squirt. You don't really have to keep your head back, just don't sniff. Let us know how it works for you next time. Pain free wishes to you. Beth |

Title: Re: Has Zomig really worked for some of you? Post by LindsayLoo on Jun 12th, 2007, 1:20am I started Zomig Nasal spray 5 mg last week and it seems to be doing it's job so far. Except for today that is, I can't seem to shake it, but then again, I just ran out of samples. So that might be why!! The only thing I don't like about the spray is the feeling I get in my sinuses after words..It just feels weird and burns. Hopefully, as I get used to it it will go away. Good Luck, Lindz |

Title: Re: Has Zomig really worked for some of you? Post by birdman on Jun 12th, 2007, 9:36am Zomig has worked for me in the past though not as effective as Imitrex injections. Imitrex has never failed me while zomig has a couple of times. Like everyone else, you need to not sniff as the taste in your throat can make you want to vomit. I actually have, that sucks when you are mid headache. As I am sure you will here from someone soon, look into oxygen. It is cheap and effective |

Title: Re: Has Zomig really worked for some of you? Post by Bob_Johnson on Jun 12th, 2007, 12:48pm "CHICAGO, IL -- September 12, 2006 -- Zolmitriptan nasal spray, used to treat migraine headaches, also may be safe and effective in treating painful cluster headaches, according to an article posted online today that will appear in the November 2006 print issue of Archives of Neurology, one of the JAMA/Archives journals. "Because some patients dropped out of the study or did not have enough headaches during the study period, 69 patients were included in the final analysis, which was based on 65 attacks treated with 5 milligrams of zolmitriptan nasal spray, 63 attacks treated with a 10-milligram dose and 61 attacks treated with placebo. Patients reported headache relief after 30 minutes in 38 (61%) of the attacks treated with the 10-milligram dose, 27 (42%) of those treated with the 5-milligram dose and 14 (23%) of those treated with placebo. Thirty-one patients (50%) taking 10 milligrams of the nasal spray were pain-free at 30 minutes, compared with 18 (28%) of those taking the 5-milligram dose and 10 (16%) who took placebo." (Doc Guide) =============== Don't want the spray to run down you throat. Should stay in the nasal cavity where it's taken up by the surrounding tissues. |

Title: Re: Has Zomig really worked for some of you? Post by Gator on Jun 12th, 2007, 1:03pm Zomig Nasal Spray 5mg worked quite well for me about 95% of the time. I would place the end of the spray just inside a nostril and push the plunger with one hand and use the index finger from the other hand to hold that nostril closed so the medicine wouldn't drain out the front and sort of hold my head to the side, so it didn't drain down the back. |

Title: Re: Has Zomig really worked for some of you? Post by UN solved on Jun 13th, 2007, 2:53pm No ... It didn't help me any. ( None of the Triptans help me except for the Imitrex injections ) And I wanted to add: about the clinical trial results ... 30 minutes :o Holy smokes that seems like a long time for an abortive to kick in !! My Imitrex jabs works in less than 15 minutes (thank goodness) PF Wishes UNsolved |

Title: Re: Has Zomig really worked for some of you? Post by burnt-toast on Jun 14th, 2007, 7:56am Try everything until you find something that works. For me O2, Zomig, Imitrex and Caffergot all proved to be busts in aborting attacks so I've concentrated on preventatives and finding ways to outlast attacks when they occur. Tom |

Title: Re: Has Zomig really worked for some of you? Post by Shedz on Jun 25th, 2007, 11:31am I didn't have much success with the Zomig, I use Red Bull, ice packs, 02 and as a last resort the Trex injections. We all react differently to different meds, so try everthing till you find whats best for you. Wishing you some PF time. Paul. |
