So based on the advice provided on the boards, I've waited quite a while after coming of predinisone to be sure that it's completely out of my system before trying the shrooms.
Anyone know how long I'd have to be off imitrex injections before taking the shrooms to ensure effectiveness? Imitrex being the only abortive that works for me, so I'm more than a little apprehensive about giving it up.

Minimum of 3 days off trex. And all other meds if you can help it. I understand the concern, but it can be done. The mind set you adopt is the key. Try to think back to the days before you had trex in your arsonal. You lived through it then with no abortive. You can do it again.

There are many experts there who will be ready to answer all your questions and guide you through your detox and bursting attempt.

Actually, clusterbusters.com is not a discussion board. You can't ask questions there. It does have the information you need, particularly in these faqs:

There are experts who know the ins and outs of detoxing, but I'm not one of them. As I recall, tho, the advice is what Redd said: wait at least a couple days after the last dose of Imitrex or other triptans.

Oxygen is a good treatment to use during the detox period and in combination with shrooms or LSA seeds; many find the O2 works better than usual when combined with a 'busters treatment. As always, 10-15 lpm through a clustermasx (www.clustermasx.com).

There is a Clusterbusters discussion group, but one must be invited to participate. It is private so discussions can remain confidential.

Ideally, you'll go 5 days without trex. Have you tried Red Bull? It works really well for some, and doesn't interfere with busting. Good luck and let us know how things turn out. :)

Thanks for the advice everyone. Definitely a challenge, as since I got my first trex injection back in 99 I've been of the "You can have my imitrex when you pry it from my cold, dead hand" school of though.
Will keep proper stiff upper lip for the next few days, though I have a marked increase in frequency (went from 2/day to twice that today, though lower intensity).
Pounding coffee and counting the days until I'm ready to give the buster a try.
