Title: Relpax Post by Trooper on Apr 16th, 2007, 9:43pm Ok, I know I have seen posts on this drug in the past but I can't seem to get the search engine to work. I went to a new doc. today and he has suggested I give Relpax a try. I have been on Imitrex for 4 years now and seems like each episode is lasting longer. The Doc. thinks this could possibly be due to rebound HAs, which apparently are a more common side effect of Imitrex. |

Title: Re: Relpax Post by Trooper on Apr 16th, 2007, 10:03pm Sorry, should have been a little more clear on what I meant. I was looking for info from previous posts on this site and can't seem to get the search tool to work. Went back about 12 pages and finally figured it would be easier to just go on the board and post my question. Does anyone have any first hand experience with Relpax? |

Title: Re: Relpax Post by Gator on Apr 16th, 2007, 10:24pm Relpax is a pill and as such takes a long time to start to take effect. WAY too long in my opinion. Personally, relpax make me feel like 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bucket and for hours longer than an attack lasts. Imitrex pills had about the same effect, though not quite as extreme. Imitrex injections never had any effect on me except relief. If you are worried about continued use of Imitrex, maybe talk to your doctor about trying Zomig Nasal Spray. It's almost as fast as a trex inject, has a much longer half life and did I mention it works almost as fast as trex. Beats the hell out of a pill. |

Title: Re: Relpax Post by Trooper on Apr 16th, 2007, 10:48pm Thanks for the input. I suffer from episodic Ch with 99% of them wakeing me from a dead sleep. I have had one every night for over 3 weeks now. I take the Imitrex pills because you get more of them and I can usually get away with cutting them in half. They take longer to work than the nasal spray and I do find that the pill makes me feel like shit where the spray does not. My new docotor is willing to give me a Rx for the injections but I have to admit I do not know alot about that form of Imitrex. He suggested the Relpax because he thinks it could be possible that the Imitrex has begun to prolong my cycles. I have to admit my cycles have become much worse since I have been on Imitrex but I know that does not necessairily mean anything. |

Title: Re: Relpax Post by nani on Apr 16th, 2007, 10:53pm Have you tried oxygen? Look over on the left at the oxygen info link for the details that will make it work. Imitrex pills aren't the best choice for CH, the injections work the fastest. Also on the left is the Imitrex tip. pain free wishes, nani |

Title: Re: Relpax Post by testy01 on Apr 27th, 2007, 4:46pm Trooper I've got a box on my dresser I'll give you. In my own experience, Relpax doesn't kill the HA, it just delays it for about 45 minutes and then I get a really bad one. Also, as Gator pointed out, it seems to take a long time to work. Jack |
