Title: Re: shroums study in Harvard Post by bluesunshine on Feb 28th, 2007, 2:28am I know these kind of study take times, and I have a lot of hope on this one... don't tell me it has been aborted by the FDA! |

Title: Re: shroums study in Harvard Post by georgej on Feb 28th, 2007, 9:03am This is the most recent citation I've seen. June of 2006. Sewell RA, Halpern JH, Pope HG Jr. (2006) Response of cluster headache to psilocybin and LSD. Neurology 27;66: 1920-1922. The full text online version requires a subscription to "Neurology", although I'm sure the print version is available through your local library. Haven't read it, but I'm sure others will be able to provide you with more information. Best, George |

Title: Re: shroums study in Harvard Post by Bob P on Feb 28th, 2007, 9:57am I thought I heard something about one or both of the Doctors leaving Harvard. I don't see their names on the McLean Hospital web site: http://www.mclean.harvard.edu/research/clinicalunit/adatp.php I think Sewell is continuing with the research but those who know will have to confirm this. |

Title: Re: shroums study in Harvard Post by Mac_Muz on Feb 28th, 2007, 10:30am I asked around here and Sewell evidently retired... I don't know if that is a forced deal, or was just coming ... I don't know if it is a good deal or not either..... i had been intouch, then poof he was gone.... |

Title: Re: shroums study in Harvard Post by Kevin_M on Feb 28th, 2007, 10:36am It has been noted on this site of efforts to continue. As an unknowledgable stab in the dark concerning a change of possible venue for continuing... although I have no idea if the study and this would be related in any decisions made. ------------------- NIH Budget Cuts to Affect Success Rate of Awards June 30th, 2006 ... ... 82 percent of McLean's awarded research revenues derive from federal sources (74 percent from the NIH)... ... --------------- Research Revenue January 12th, 2007 The effects of the erosion in NIH funding following the "doubling" period from 1998 to 2003 are beginning to be felt at McLean. In FY 2006 there was an 8% decrease in federal funding compared to the previous year (after a 204% increase between 1995 and 2005). Nonetheless, we continue to maintain a positive overall growth trend. The Partners Research Revenue Report for the Month Ending November, 2006, shows that fiscal year-to-date, our total research revenue is $406,000 ahead of this point in the previous fiscal year, although under budget by $366,000. |

Title: Re: shroums study in Harvard Post by nani on Feb 28th, 2007, 11:46am Wheels continue to turn... John Halpern, at McLean is still our psilocybin study guy. Andrew Sewell, with assistance from MAPS, will continue gathering info on kudzu and LSA. I'm sure someone with a better handle on the "big picture" will come along soon. |

Some of us are just a little more "flakey" than others. ;;D I just wish someone with the ability to say, "Do it" would pull his head out and realize that there are hundreds of thousands of sufferers (whether they know it or not) worldwide waiting for them to quit jacking around and study the stuff. |
