Title: Pred taper
Post by findjoshua on Feb 5th, 2007, 10:17am
Hi.  Well, the magic of my prednisone taper is wearing off, sadly.  The shadows are like barbarians at the gate.  I was on 60mg for three days and pain free.  The first day of my 10mg taper to 50mg I got a CH at night.  Used trex.  Today I'm down to 40mg and waiting.  Need a better daily pill than Verap 240mg, or maybe more of that, I've been on it for more than a month with no relief, worsening if anything.  Does anyone advise upping the pred back to 60mg until something can be worked out?  Or best not to start down that track?

Joshua

I would hope that no one here would advise you to change your docs prescribed schedule to taper the Prednisone. This med must be tapered and soon. You may call your doc and ask him/her to extend your taper ... but you're better off not going down that road. Staying on steroids for very long will cause problematic side effects  :-/

Goodluck & sorry the beast is returning

Oh I definitely would call the neuro first though.  Any other good prevents. other than Verap out there?  What's Topomax all about?  I guess I 'll raise all these with doc.

Tks,
Joshua

Serious side effects to come if you don't stay on the taper schedule.  Been there, done that.

I just got all my meds filled....I have been having shadows and one mild hit so far...but still trying to believe it is not going to really happen.
I haven't taken the pred yet....sitting on the fence...

But as I sit here with yet another shadow today...I guess maybe it is inevitable.....

I take Procardia as a preventative...has worked well for me after about a week or two....perhaps it is slightly different than Verapamil....

Guess I will go take it and hope for the best...I have had my 2 yr break....why can't he just leave us alone.... :(
