Post by TonyG1 on Jan 13th, 2007, 7:35pm
First I had heard of this drug ... anyone ever used it to prevent CH attacks ??  If so, was it effective ?

Drug Info:

Looks like it works in a similar way to Verapamil?

Looks like it ... both are classed as calcium channel blockers. Raise the red flag with respect to combining this with Red Bull or taurine.

Do you know if it is an old drug Jonathan?

If it is, it would suggest that it has been tried but that Verap was better (or cheaper  ;;D)

Hi Wendy  ;;D

I tried this one over 20 years ago. If I remember correctly, I had a difficult time standing up and was constantly buzzed. It was much more side-effectual (how's that for a new word) than verapamil ever was.
I believe its a much more active drug than verapamil.

As to the cost.....here in the US, it would be more widely prescribed if it cost MORE, not less. ;-)

Rarely used for clusters.....surprised to even hear the name again.

Nimotop .... sure I've tried those too  ::)   They were as big as bigger than horse pills  :o   And of course, they did nothing to stop my attacks.

PS. Did I mention they were HUGE !!  lol

Yeah, man I forgot about that...they were. That was in another lifetime and I have trouble remembering THIS one.

No disrespect, really, but I still get a chuckle when people report that they've tried *everything* and then list a dozen meds.

For those that never tried Nimotop, it's not a Transformer Action Figure.....it's one of those "cluster meds" borrowed from other treatments for conditions that are only as closely related as a 3rd cousin's illegitimate stepson.

Hiya W,
Well, I could but as you know, what's good/bad for this goose isn't always good/bad for any old gander out there.

Bob
Does the size of my list really matter? ;-)

I hear ya W,

UNsolved...
My list has always been prescribed QID and "use as directed" but was assigned an LD50 dose by the FDA after a near tragic event   :o

We should stop now before being told to move to a different forum ;-)
