Title: histamine injections & blood type Post by michellepaul on Jan 5th, 2007, 1:06am husband is chronic clusterhead for 18 years. we just found out someone we know had them for 22 years and finally got rid of the headaches by getting histamine shots 5 times a week for about a month. They just went away after 22 years. the weird part is that both he and my husband are O negative (very rare blood type). hmmmm, something to the blood type too maybe? what do you think? |

Title: Re: histamine injections & blood type Post by UN solved on Jan 5th, 2007, 6:16am I've never heard of anyone getting Histamine injections. Too much Histamine at once will cause a cluster headache. I have heard of Histamine Desensitization.... that's where they give you Histamine a little at a time by infusion. It's not something you have done at your docs office. You have to be admitted into a hospital where they give you the infusions slowly, over a 10 - 11 day period. It's worked pretty good for me a few times now. I still do it from time to time. As far as blood type .... coincidence I would guess. I'm sure clusterheads have many different types of blood. Title: Re: histamine injections & blood type Post by michellepaul on Jan 5th, 2007, 12:11pm yeah, i'm just trying to figure it out too after 18 years. it was just strange that this man that we've know had them for a long 22 years and all of the sudden after having the histamine for a month they went away. He's been cluster and headache free for just about 20 years now. he doesn't remember exactly what the doc did but he remembers getting the injections 5x/week. i'll keep researching and update the message board with the findings. |

Title: Re: histamine injections & blood type Post by floridian on Jan 5th, 2007, 5:47pm Blood type and body chemistry - there are a few correlations, but I think it is usually over hyped. Geneticists once thought that the people on the islands surrounding Europe were from the same recent source because their blood types were so similar. Then they got more sophisticated DNA analysis and found it wasn't so. On isolated islands, epidemic diseases tend to occur less frequently, but are more devastating when they do. Some blood types offer a very slight protection against some of these (measles, I think), and if the death rate was 1/1000th less in some blood groups, it would explain a shift over time to where we are today. But the blood type/diet theory that is out there, I think it overstates the importance of Rh factor. |

Title: Re: histamine injections & blood type Post by michellepaul on Jan 7th, 2007, 4:22pm Thanks. I'd still like to find out more about this. The internet isn't a great source for what I'm looking for. It's like there was a doctor 20 years ago that figured out how to get rid of the headache for my friend, now nobody knows how he did it. I'll keep researching the subject. |
