Title: what to tell Doc? Post by tfef on Nov 19th, 2006, 1:14am Going in to a new doctor in a few weeks. My CH episodes have started again (what fun). Now that I've found this site, I'll be walking in armed with information. Does anyone know how to phrase 'give me Imitrex NOW' more tactfully? Been diagnosed with CH from Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago, but now live in So Cal. What are the really key points to tell the new doc to get the point across that these headaches suck? Trish |

Title: Re: what to tell Doc? Post by The Image on Nov 19th, 2006, 6:46am Make sure you tell them that your eye weeps. They use this as a measure to differentiate the true CH sufferer from the hypercondriac who's just had a bad headche. Emphasise the weeping eye. Naramig is better for CH than immitrex (although made of the same stuff) because it acts faster and has more power over a shorter length of time instead of a low power over 12 hours. |

Title: Re: what to tell Doc? Post by lionsound on Nov 19th, 2006, 6:55am Trish, Do you have you records from Diamond Headache Clinic to bring with you? Do you keep a Headache diary? Tell the new doc exactly that CH sucks. Tell the doc how you hurt and bring a list of what you want to say and what you need and don't leave until you've checked off everything. I bring a list and look at it with the doc so we are literally on the same page. be well and PF, lionsound |
