Title: Generic Actiq Lollipops Post by UN-solved on Nov 17th, 2006, 12:41am I just learned that you can get a generic form of Actiq lollipops now. My docs doesn't want me to do anymore steroids right now and they want me to do DHE infusions in Chicago instead of at my local hospital. (They got mad cause I accidently 'spilled the beans' and told them the local docs would give me DHE within 4-6 hours after using Imitrex ... depending on which doc was seeing me). They were totally against that !! Now I have to go back to Chicago soon. In the meantime, I'm going to give Actiq another try. Anyone else using generic Actiq lollipops ? Does it help ? Side effects ? Suggestions ? Is it a waste of time ? Cost ? BTW...I'm going to try the 800mg pops this time. UNsolved |

Title: Re: Generic Actiq Lollipops Post by stpp77 on Nov 17th, 2006, 11:59am hi un-solved, Did the DHE help with the clusters for you or did they do histamine or is it antimhistamine treatment? My mind is a little boggled with so many meds right now. I have read many of your posts and if am correct you just got back recently from Diamond inpatient? I did too..I'm curious what are these lollipops? Thanks and hope you find some relief. |

Title: Re: Generic Actiq Lollipops Post by Linda_Howell on Nov 17th, 2006, 12:39pm Actiq lollipops are Fentanl in lollipop form as opposed to a patch. There are used for break-through pain and mostly in Cancer patients. There are lawsuits going on about their use because it is so easy for a child to think they're candy and stick one in their mouth. It is a narcotic. |

Title: Re: Generic Actiq Lollipops Post by UN-solved on Nov 17th, 2006, 12:40pm First of all, DHE always helps me. I usually do all my inpatient treatments @ a local hospital here in Indiana. This last time I did DHE, Steroids, and Histamine Desensitization over a 12 day period. The attacks started a few days after I was released ( so the Histamine didn't help prevent future attacks, but the DHE and steroids gave me a good 'break' from the madness. Actiq lollipops is a VERY strong pain medication, perhaps the strongest pain med available orally. Usually only terminally ill patients who have already been on medium - high doses of Morphine (or other Opiods) for at least 6 months can get this. Any others who try this may have serious side effects and it could even be fatal. Actiq mixed with certain illegal drugs (such as cocaine) is a fatal combination. If you're not doing strong doses of Opiods daily for at least the last 6 months, forget about asking for this drug ... you won't get it ... too dangerous :-/ http://www.actiq.com/ UNsolved |

Title: Re: Generic Actiq Lollipops Post by stpp77 on Nov 17th, 2006, 1:25pm Wow, sounds like you have had a really tough go of it, I really hope you find that right mix to give you a break. The DHE seemed to also help me, but I also have complicated migraines. DHE is contraindicated as is Immitrex, but they felt it was okay (they cut way down on my immitrex, and I mean way down)... They were trying to break both things which seemed to be overlapping all at once. They did not do the histamine treatment since my cycle seemed to be slowing (only 2 clusters in hospital). Anyways, didn't mean to jump in on your post with another subject. PF wishes to you! |
