Recently I discontinued neurontin and verapamil because of continued vertigo/dizziness. If felt kind of like dizziness, or a panic attack, or an asthma attack so I have been following up with my Dr, and am now only taking kudzu and Indocin.

Last week, I had an EKG which was good. Today, I had blood work and the treadmill test which was inclonclusive so I'm scheduled in a few weeks for an echo stress test.

I'm not worried, but I thought I would check in, especially since Bob Johson was kind enough to help me with some articles on panic attacks - I wanted you to know, Bob, I'm checking it out, and the doc doesn't think it's panic attacks or anxiety this time, and to thank you for your help, and to apologize for being cranky.

You don't know "crankyl" until you live in a community with retired people!

Vertigo: can be caused by an infection or, in middle-age and later, by the accumulation of very small hard particles in the middle ear which move about when we move our heads in particular ways. The movement of this material triggers vertigo. Can be treated by a series of head movements, which ENT docs are using, to move this material away from the trigger points.

Hey Charlotte,
I hope the vertigo was caused from the meds and not something else.
I had meniere's disease for about 6 years off and on. More on than off for the last year.
It was a genetic thing for me, my dad had it, a brother had it. Finally found an otolaryngologist through our insurance network who could perform surgery. Some don't do the labrynthectomy surgery.
Not to scare you, just that I KNOW vertigo intimately. I could go on and on, but probably shouldn't right now.

I believe Bob is describing positional vertigo, which can be helped with body manipulation and exercises.

Hope you find the cause and it is not too severe.

Its interesting Carl that you have Meniere disease as well as CH. I read somewhere that there may be some links between the two. Daniels grandmother has Meniere disease and his mother has migraine. He is the only one with CH though :(

Annette, I had the disease. Wonder why they call it a disease? Sounds like ya shouldn't get within 10 feet of me. Oh well. As I said, I had the disease in my left ear, same side as the clusters. Never thought the two were related, and was never told that by any docs. I saw 3 before finding one to do the labrynthectomy. There are other procedures that could have been tried for the cure. Gentamicin injections or another surgery that involved cutting of the balance nerve at the brain stem. That sounded too risky to me, involving a brain surgeon. It would have preserved the hearing on that side, but I only had 27% hearing on that side anyway. The labrynthectomy results in deafness in the affected ear, but also kills the vertigo completely. Had some double vision problems afterward, some still lingering.

Now that's probably too much information, and Charlotte is now probably panicking.

Sorry so long, and sounds self centered, but not meant to be.

How is Daniel's grandmother coping? I hope and wish and pray the best for her.
