Title: Canada--meds from... Post by Bob_Johnson on Nov 16th, 2006, 4:19pm "As of October 9, 2006, the Department of Homeland security announced that it would stop confiscating prescription drugs Americans order by mail from Canadian pharmacies. According to an article posted on the California Health Advocates website, prior to this policy change, the U.S. government was confiscating as much as 20 percent of the shipments, totaling over 37,000 prescription drug orders as of July, 2006. "The FDA has said that consumer safety is a primary concern, and that "many drugs obtained from foreign sources that purport and appear to be the same as U.S.-approved prescription drugs, are, in fact, of unknown quality." However, an article from Consumer Reports entitled, "Prescription Drugs: the Facts About Canada" seems to cast doubt on that argument. The article states, "Canada's manufacturing and regulatory system is comparable to that of the U.S." [edited for length.] (from: www.spondylitis.org) |

Title: Re: Canada--meds from... Post by pubgirl on Jan 6th, 2007, 3:57am Bob Can I ask what might be a dozy question. I want to buy Chantix a drug which isn't licensed here yet (it is in Canada and the USA) and I therefore can't get a prescription for it. The reputable online pharmacies all seem to need a prescription before they will sell. Is there any way round this? Wendy |

Title: Re: Canada--meds from... Post by Bob_Johnson on Jan 6th, 2007, 8:48am Wendy, there are web sites which will sell virtually anything you want but the problem is that you have no idea what, in fact, you are receiving. It's the "off color" outfits which have been the source of adulterated materials. I wonder if your doc would be willing to communicate with a Canadian outlet to see if he and the Canadian doc (who has to countersign any Rx from another country) might work something out for you. You might try writing to a Canadian source, outlining your problem, and ask them if they can suggest a work-around. |
