Title: Neurotoxin Studies? Post by thebbz on Oct 16th, 2006, 9:54pm Some critters contain neurotoxins that would be beneficial to study for a possible treatment for our condition. Some have been mentioned ie. frogs. All laughter aside does anyone have more information regarding this? really not kidding jb |

Title: Re: Neurotoxin Studies? Post by nani on Oct 16th, 2006, 10:04pm Botulism? I only remember it helping one person with CH, but it's supposed to be pretty good for migraines. Now, if only I could remember whether the one person was an actual study, or just a report.... :-/ hi jb!! :-* |

Title: Re: Neurotoxin Studies? Post by Charlotte on Oct 16th, 2006, 11:50pm Joan kissed you and you became a prince. c Even though we were jesting, you should read the links in the other thread. I foresee this gaining popularity in a few decades when everything organic is legal and synthetic will be illegal. |

Title: Re: Neurotoxin Studies? Post by BikerBob on Oct 17th, 2006, 12:55am Hi jb ;;D Please "Don't try this at home". Very scary. see: http://www.erowid.org/animals/toads/toads.shtml Here's a funny article http://www.erowid.org/animals/toads/toads_writings2.shtml The indole-ring compound is 5-MeO-DMT (a very scary drug). I suspect that 5-MeO-DMT would have beneficial effects on CH, but I would never go near toad venom. A better way to use 5-MeO-DMT is by using ayahuasca, but only under the supervision of a shaman in Brazil. :-/ BB ;) |

Title: Re: Neurotoxin Studies? Post by georgej on Oct 17th, 2006, 11:53am All kidding aside, take a look at the similarities in chemical structure between Sumatriptan and Psilocybin-- Sumatriptan: http://static.flickr.com/86/260448168_dcd72298b2_m.jpg Psilocybin: http://static.flickr.com/122/260448169_94de173bbc_m.jpg (borrowed from Biker Bob's post in the "Psilocybin Theory" thread--hope you don't mind, Bob) and Bufotenin, from toads and a variety of plant sources-- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Bufotenin.png Interesting. Whether or not this could be of therapeutic interest in managing CH is another question, and I can't address that, since I simply do not know. Best regards, George |
