I had a sleep study some years ago. Right before they hooked me up to all the wires, I had a major attack. I took an Imi inj an aborted it within minutes. I slept fine through the rest of the night with no attacks.

I was wondering if I would've been hooked up to all the wires when I had the attack if it would've showed anything at all ?? Would it have made a difference ??

I'm having another sleep study tonight. If I take my dose of steroids now, I won't have any attacks. If I don't take my steroids, I will have attacks. Wondering if I should not take the meds so I can have an attack while wired. Would it be worth it at all ?? Would it tell the docs anything? would they be able to see it coming while I'm asleep ??

The choice is totally up to you unsolved, but in the interest of science it may be interesting to see what happens during an attack. I imagine your EEG would go wild during an attack, and if one came on while you were sleeping, the tech should be able to pick it up right away, probably even before you're aware it's comming on. As for telling the docs anything, it will show your brain wave patterns, oxygen saturation, and limb movement before, during, and after an attack. This could be quite interesting, please let me know what the results are when you get them. Best of luck with it.

I put in a call to my local neuro who is also the head of the sleep lab @ the hospital. Someone from his office should call me back and let me know if they want me to take the meds (preventing the attack(s)) or if they want me to have an attack while wired up.

Wow unsolved :o

If you're brave enough to go for it I would be very interested to hear what happens (and when it happens i.e. at what stage of sleep things start 'spiking' whilst being hit).

Is the sleep study part of your CH treatment or for something else? If it is for CH, I'd imagine monitoring during a hit would be invaluable.

I guess they feel that there is nothing they can learn from a CH attack during a sleep study. They told me to take my meds as planned. After trying to lower the dosage on my own and getting hammered 3 times this morning, I just took 60mg of Prednisone. :-/ Hopefully the attacks will stop again quickly.

I did the sleep study. Got through it with no attacks. I actually slept pretty good with all them wires on me ::) They woke me up too early though ( 5 am ) That's too early for me !! >:(

The nurse siad I had " .. a few events.." whatever that means. The neuro is going to have to give me all the details though.

unsolved dood - iv read a few of your posts now and it sounds like you get it propper rough.

god, do you have to stay permentntly medicated to stop you getting constantly hit ??

im chronic but even before verapamil i only got hit once a day, 2 at the most when i was peaking (as far as a chronic can peak)

i really feel for you dood.
if im honest. if it was me, i would go for it. just for my own interest to see the results of what my brain was doing during a hit.

but with your history, i bet your sick to death of being in pain.
my heart goes out to you bro - do what u thinks best.

Thanks Choppa. And yes, I get major hits every couple of hours unless I'm heavily medicated with steroids. Right now I'm doing 60mg of Prednisone every other day and it's helping tremendously. Not sure how long I'll be able to continue doing it though. The last Histamine treatment was a total failure....but I haven't given up on that yet. I'll try it again pretty soon. (Probably when it's time to stop the steroid use)

My insomnia seems to be like CH in that, it grows worse over time. It also seems to come in major cycles. Went through it bad last year and happening again this year.

I may be going in for another sleep study, and am ever-curious as to what they might find with me waking up with a CH.

I also think the EEG reading might be pretty wild, as I know my pulse rate drops a bit and blood pressure increases.

I feel for you bro. One week ago I started getting slammed with 10-12 attacks in 24 hour periods, but they slacked off as of thursday and I am back down to 1-3 a 24/hr pd.
