Title: Topamax brought on gout attack?
Post by DavidEH on Sep 27th, 2006, 8:29pm
Hey everyone, been awhile since I've posted. Haven't had a cluster in over a week now, thank the lord.

Anyways, Been on topamax for a few weeks, last week went up to 75 mg, but due to a new prescription of perks, I got really ill and went back down to 50mgs a night...

No clusters, but around 3 nights ago my ankle started to hurt, then felt like it was sprained. Then it went to my big toe.. (typical redness, sore, feels sprained)...

Anyways, called the GP, and he prescribed indomethacine for the gout attack (shouldn't last more then a week hopefully)...

I am still waiting on a call back from my neuru, left a message, but since Topamax has been know to give kidney stones, is it possible that it caused this gout attack?

Haven't had a gout attack in over 3 years (that was my first), and it just seems strange, that I got hit with a major attack a few weeks into using topamax..

I have in the last few days tapered off, and stopped the topamax... Hopefully, the cycle is dead, although I do experience several migraines a day (mini clusters I suppose, possible rebound headaches, after being on relpax for a month basically)...

Hopefully the indomethacine helps with that as well...
