Title: Re: Dexamethasone Post by BigCoffinHunter on Sep 26th, 2006, 10:50pm I went through two tapers of it when my cycle started. It stopped them immediately, until the taper finished. Gave me incredible heartburn, and made my skin break out all over like I haven't seen since high school. Still it was worth it for the time off it gave me. It gave me time for the Verapamil to build up in my system. |

Title: Re: Dexamethasone Post by unsolved1 on Sep 27th, 2006, 12:26am Yes. It's often prescribed as a transitional drug to stop cluster headaches. You have to use it sparingly or suffer the side effects (Which could be deadly !! ) Take exactly as directed. Do NOT abruptly stop taking this med (or any other steroids) if you're doing a 'taper'. Steroids usually work for me ... giving me much needed breaks. ;) Goodluck UNsolved |

Title: Re: Dexamethasone Post by bothofus on Sep 27th, 2006, 4:34am Hello dee, I too took this about 10 yrs ago. Stopped the CH attacks, but the side effects were wierd. Mood changes, eat everything in sight, dillusions of grandeur(my way of saying that something BIG was going to happen), The side effects went away about 2 weeks after the dosing ended. Prob doesn't affect everyone the same way though, but be careful. Carl |

Title: Re: Dexamethasone Post by dee1623 on Sep 27th, 2006, 7:08am Thanks everyone. I am so scared to try anything. My sister, who is a nurse, suggested the drug. I am almost done this cycle so I think I am just going to ride this one through. I have been taking gravol every night before bed and have not been getting any HA at night but I feel like shit in the morning. I did not take anything last night and had a good night and feel great this morning. It could be a fluke, but it has been 4 weeks since this has started so I should be done soon. I am still a little scared at bedtime. We made some wine and it has been yelling at me for the last couple of weeks, but I must wait. No alcohol is worth it for me. I am very glad I found this site and have learned a lot from all of you. I had no idea so many people are going through this and I had never heard of it before my research. Even the doctors said it was sinus until the last one I saw almost two years ago. This all started when I was very pregnant with my 8 year old and has been visiting evey year and a half since. I have also had lots of laughs from the joke section. Thanks a million. Dee |
