Title: Cost of Welder's Oxygen
Post by Giovanni on Sep 25th, 2006, 1:05pm
Hello,  I'm new with the welder's oxygen thing so please bear with me.

What do you folks pay for refills?  I just had three 40 CF tanks refilled at a cost of $65.00 with tax.  Seemed high to me.  A 40 CF tank holds almost as much as two E medical oxygen tanks.

The tanks looked like poop, needed painting, rust...some dirty.  Had to wash them with a garden hose.

Further, this welder's supply did not rent these tanks, but required that you purchase them initially and then exchange them as needed.  The next size up from the 40's were the 90 CF (which were rented).

This is going to be an expensive ordeal as much oxygen as I use.

John

Hey John,

Did you get a clustermasx?

Umm...Jonny or Randy will probably have to help with the normal cost of the 02.

Vibes and lots of good luck comin your way.

Thanks Jean,

The clustermasx came today. :)  Maybe I can save a few liters of O2 here and there with it.  I tried it out for a few minutes and it appears much more efficient than the standard non-rebreather.  I'll experiment on turning down the L.P.M. next time I need it.

Thanks for the support.

John

Hi Nani,

Sounds like you have a 60 CF welding tank or a Medical oxygen F tank.  Appears that we're paying approximately the same price for this stuff per liter give or take.

My regulator came in today from ebay $35 with shipping as well as the clustermasx from Ben.  I'll be returning my rental equipment (regulators, tanks, etc.) to American HomePatient on Thursday.

I will eventually get the O2 via insurance company again once I straighten out a few problems.  In the meanwhile I do have these three tanks that I purchased for immediate use plus future standby.

Hope I'm coming out of these things soon........been a long ordeal and cutting into my motorcycle riding time a bunch.  >:(

I'll be definitely doing my "prevents" prior to my next scheduled visit which has evidently switched to July. ;)

I found that the clustermasx has cut my usage down to about 9 liters per minutes versus 15 with the standard non-rebreather.

Hope you're doing well and pf.

John

Comparative shopping. Size DOES matter:

Anything is better than nothing.
