Title: Relpax Question? Post by DavidEH on Aug 28th, 2006, 12:59pm It's been almost a few weeks, since I've posted. Basically, after my appointment with my Doc he prescribed relpex. Basically I had 6 pills for the first fill, then 6 for the 1 refill. It states never to take relpex as a preventative, which I never did. However, through a loop whole (constant shadows, when waking up), basically I would take one relpax a day (at most 2)... During my time with relpax, I only had 1 cluster headache. This was during the day the I had to wait for the refill... Now, I finished off my relpex on Saturday. For which the doctor prescribed Axert (a more costly prescription). To cut it short, I've had 3 cluster headaches on Sunday alone, not including one this morning that woke me . In an attempt to get relief, I call the on call doctor and he prescribed butalbital and (unlike my primary doc, he is working on getting me oxygen, said its hard to get approval from insurance companies, but is going to get it done)... My question is. Why if the relpex was working, would the doctor switch to another med. In the almost 2 weeks of relpex, I was pain free and functional (except for the one day between refills)... Just wanted to add that I woke up this morning with chest pain, and can only think that the axert and butalbital might have added to that. I might note that I'm a relatively healthy 26 year old male, and I never experience chest pain.... It's a been a scary, sad day. I felt great with the relpex, it stoped my clusters from coming when I took them at the first sign of a shadow (bascially when I woke up). In two days time, I am starting to loss it again, I am depressed, and at wits end... Still have at least one week until my neuro comes back from vacation.. I can't take this. I fell as if I'm at the peak of my cycle, I was only around 1 a day before the relpex. Now I am up to 4... Why would the doc stop the relpex? I mean 1-2 clusters in 2 weeks time on relpex vs. 4 in one day on axert/ butalbital? I'm not a math whiz but geez... Also I never even exceded the 2 day dose of relpex ever. I felt great.. So fustrated, sorry to vent... Hopefully I can get a relpex refill with that o2..... |

Title: Re: Relpax Question? Post by roy21302 on Aug 28th, 2006, 3:53pm David Sorry you are having a bad time of it right now, you vent at the board all you like. Can't you get back to the on call Dr and ask for some Relpax, or at least tell him you had chest pain on the stuff he gave you. Some times you wonder whos side the Doctors are on in this war agains the bloody Beast, they should all have to have 1 week CH during their training. Try some ice packs, strong coffee, red bull ice cold and gulpdown sometime staves off a hit. Iam sure some else will be along soon with better advice, keep your chin up, you'll come through Here to PFDAN-------------Cheer ROY |
